Detroit Strip Clubs: Riddle says his fate is near
July 11, 2009 at 1:12 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsRiddle, who repeatedly has said he won’t accept a plea bargain in the case, made the rounds Friday of City Hall casually dressed in a linen shirt and pants but would not say what he was doing.
Riddle is under FBI investigation in connection with alleged bribes paid to win approval of a $1.2 billion sewage sludge contract awarded to Synagro Technologies Inc. of Texas in 2007. Conyers pleaded guilty to a felony alleging she accepted at least $6,000 for her vote, while Jackson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to bribery in the case. Both await sentencing on the five-year felonies.
Riddle has said his telephone was tapped by federal agents as part of the investigation.
He’s denied accusations of shaking down a strip club official for a favorable vote and claimed the FBI questioned him about a $50,000 contract from state Democrats. Riddle also has been linked with the investigation of Southfield Councilman William Lattimore, who was charged with bribery.
