The document lists four separate instances when Conyers and Riddle worked together to commit bribery and extortion with a variety of business entities.
First, the document alleges that Riddle and Conyers “exploited her position as a trustee to the General Retirement system” and sold her vote of approval to the owner of a technology company who sought a multi-million dollar investment from the retirement system.
The second incident involves a restaurant owner who Conyers and Riddle teamed up on to extort a consulting contract for Riddle, the indictment alleges. According the feds, the two used a “pressuring technique” to get the restaurant owner to offer Riddle “a large sum of money” for consulting work he never “performed nor contemplated.”
The third accuses Riddle and Conyers of accepting another “large sum” of money from a strip club representative in exchange for a vote from the former councilwoman to transfer the club’s license.

The 20-year joint research project with the University of Genoa in Italy sought out boys from kindergarten who were at risk for delinquent behaviour, and who were enrolled at schools in the poorest neighbourhoods in Montreal. Specifically, the researchers looked for impulsive boys with inadequate supervision and poor families.
Some 779 participants were followed from the time they were very six years old until they were in their mid-20s. Nearly 18 per cent of the participants ended up with adult criminal records for infractions that included homicide, arson, and prostitution. All of those with adult records had spent time in the juvenile system.

Vaughn called the company to inform them of his bankruptcy. After confirming this, DTE was scheduled to restore power Thursday morning, Austerberry said.
Unable to wait, the couple borrowed a generator from New Providence Baptist Church in Detroit, where the family attended.
They switched it on at 10 p.m. and hooked it up first to their nebulizers, and later to two air conditioners and a television their children watched upstairs.
Earl Brown, a neighbor, said that had the family placed the generator outside, it surely would have been stolen.
“They probably put it in the house because of the neighborhood,” said Brown, a 54-year-old contractor. A local resident for 20 years, he said drug dealers and prostitutes had become too common. “It changed a lot.”

For 10 months, a rapist was preying on Pontiac women — most of them prostitutes — attacking them on the streets and dragging them into empty houses.
Eddie Lee Sykes III, the 32-year-old man police say is responsible for those six attacks, is on trial in Oakland County Circuit Court. He is charged with criminal sexual conduct, unarmed robbery and unlawful imprisonment.
Police say the rapes began in November 2007, shortly after Sykes was released from prison after serving 12 years for rape. And they continued until September 2008, when he was arrested.
On Tuesday, Pontiac Police Sgt. Todd Hunt testified that on Sept. 1, he questioned one woman who said she was assaulted and showed her a photo lineup of six men.

Victim speaks against man facing multiple sexual assault charges

Pontiac — An accused serial rapist who police say attacked five victims between November 2007 and September 2008 was identified with the help of a prostitute who went back on the street in search of his license plate number, according to testimony in his trial Monday.
Eddie Lee Sykes, 32, remains in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of a $5 million bond. He is on trial in Oakland Circuit Court on multiple charges of sexual assault and unlawful imprisonment in the five incidents. Victims allege they were dragged into vehicles or vacant houses and sexually assaulted or robbed.

On Monday, a witness who described herself as a prostitute and crack addict testified through tears and trembles how she was stalked by Sykes after he raped her in a vacant house off Kennett Street in November 2007.
