by Jonathan Oosting | MLive.com Wednesday July 22, 2009, 8:49 AM
Eddie Lee Sykes III faces up to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of first-degree sexual conduct yesterday.
Sykes was accused of raping four prostitutes and robbing another woman between November 2007 and September 2008.
Oakland Press, July 21: The case involved women who testified about going with Sykes willingly, believing he was going to pay them for a sex act. However, prosecutors said he instead choked and raped four women inside abandoned homes or a parking lot in Pontiac. “This defendant wanted the sex,” said Assistant Oakland Prosecutor Ian Simons said during his argument to the jury. “He wanted to terrorize, too.”
Sykes was convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1995 and was a registered sex offender.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Many City Council candidates have blemished records

July 22, 2009 at 4:24 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

Some miscues have to do with personal behavior.
Walter James Hart Jr., who ran for a council seat in 2005 and now has a nonprofit business training service dogs, spends his time on the campaign trail talking about redemption, something he says he knows about first-hand.
Hart served 81 months in federal prison in the 1990s after being convicted of transporting a 16-year-old girl to Washington, D.C., to “train her” to be a better prostitute. According to the girl’s testimony, whenever she gave Hart the money she earned, “I had to bow down to him, kiss his feet, call him ‘oh messiah,’ tell him, ‘I love you oh daddy.’”
He later pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges for being part of a Detroit-area group that found young women in strip clubs and forcing them into prostitution.

Detroit Strip Clubs: 2010 Ford Flex With EcoBoost First Drive

July 21, 2009 at 10:36 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

How is that possible? Well, the direct-injection system brings with it some fuel economy improvement compared to the port-injected normally aspirated V6. But Ford has also fitted the Flex GTDI with the 3.16:1 final drive that normally comes with the front-wheel-drive Flex instead of the 3.39:1 ratio that helps the normally aspirated all-wheel-drive Flex feel not too leaden. The Flex GTDI six-speed automatic shares its gear ratios with the transmission in the non-turbo Flex. It’s been a bit beefed up compared to the standard unit, though, to handle the additional torque.
So what’s the downside here? Well, there isn’t a large one, unless you consider paying an extra $2,995 to be large. The Flex is not a cheap thing in any configuration. And you won’t be able to get a stripper version with the turbo motor. It’s available only on the midline SEL and the top-of-the-line Limited versions. And it can only be had with the all-wheel-drive system.
