Drag-racers gather, dream about a legitimate strip

Ideas proposed for Detroits empty land include a commercial farm, parks, golf courses, drive-in theaters and just letting nature take its course.
Paul Humphries Sr. has his own idea: a drag strip.
Why not?
Drag racing in Detroit is an infamous and dangerous underground activity. Its kind of like prostitution. Its a fact of life. People make money and take pleasure from it. Despite the efforts of police, it never seems to go away.
Its going to happen. Why not make it safe? Humphries asked today. Why not let the city make money from it? Its already broke.
Humphries is also known as the Chevy Doctor. He is a former street racer who began racing legit at Milan Dragway as his four sons were growing up.
