Illegal gambling operations come in many different size and colors. They are set up in houses, restaurants, bars, and in the case of Warren, Michigan, a social club. That is where the latest police crackdown on illegal gambling activity took place.
Warren police raided the Ryan Palace Social Club on Wednesday night. Their investigation has been going on for six months, and on Wednesday they arrested the owner of the club.
“We’ve cracked down on narcotics in the city, prostitution and now following it up with gambling,” said Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer, “…We’re having a very positive impact.” They also are joining a growing list of agencies at the state level that are cracking down on illegal gambling activity.
Around the country there has been an emphasis put on stopping illegal gambling operations. The latest bust is another one that should gain major attention because it had to do with an illegal poker game. The legality of poker has been hotly contested in court rooms around the country.
