Three Michigan State Police detectives, who once investigated rumors of the never-proven Manoogian Mansion party and assault of a stripper, today filed motions asking not to be required to testify in a federal lawsuit against the city of Detroit brought by the family of the late Tamara Greene.
Det. Lt. Curt Schram, Det. Sgt. John Figurski and Det. Sgt. Mark Krebs said they dont want to answer any questions about the party because the case is still open, according to their motion in U.S. District Court in Detroit.
Tamara Greene, a stripper known as Strawberry, was shot in a drive-by killing on April 30, 2003, while parked in a Buick Skylark at West Outer Drive and Roselawn. Her slaying remains unsolved and Police Chief Warren Evans recently turned the investigation over to the multi-jurisdictional Violent Crimes Task Force.

Detroit — Three Michigan State Police detectives asked a federal judge today to quash subpoenas ordering them to testify in a lawsuit brought by the family of slain exotic dancer Tamara “Strawberry” Greene.
The officers, Det. Lt. Curt Schram, Det. Sgt. John Figurski and Det. Sgt. Mark Krebs, were involved in a 2003 state police investigation into a rumored but never proven stripper party at the Manoogian Mansion Detroit mayoral residence.
The investigation was shut down by Attorney General Mike Cox, who declared the party at the home of former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick an “urban legend.”
Greene, who was linked to the rumored party, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Detroit on April 30, 2003. Her family is suing Kilpatrick and top city and police officials, alleging they obstructed the investigation of her still unsolved killing for political reasons.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Cop fired for watching hard core porn videos in squad car

October 15, 2009 at 7:37 am | In Detroit adult entertainment | No Comments

Clinton, Illinois is a small, quiet town of 7,500 people and there may not that much exciting police work, but the police brass there say an officer could have found something better to do than watch porn on his squad car computer.
Officer Bill Hurst, 40, was fired Tuesday after a unanimous vote by the Clinton Police and Fire Commission.
Hurst was accused of viewing some 25 hour of hard core porn on the city-issued computer between November 2008 and January 2009.
Clinton police say viewing the porn violated a number of department policies.
The computers in police cars are supposed to be used for such things as running license plates or looking up warrants, not for adult entertainment.
This was apparently not the first time Hurst violated department policy.  According to an Associated Press report, Hurst was disciplined in 2003 for exposing himself in a Clinton bar. At least his alleged predilections did not involve children ( see True Manhood Ministries story).

12:22 Comment From Paris: The idea you proposed to make Detroit the hub of the adult entertainment industry in the US sounds very good. How much revenue do you think that will bring to the city?

(4 of 5)http://www.freep.com/article/20091013/OPINION05/91012033/1068/OPINION/Live-chat-with-charter-commission-candidate-Tonya-Myers-Phillips 12:31 Comment From James Tate: “I always vote”, In the role that I will serve as a city council person, my I will have to be someone who is relaying someone elses message as was the case with the Naviagtor. I had no dealings with the vehicle except for the fact that I was provided information by my superiors and told to give that information to the press. I was just as surprised as everyone else when I found out that the information was not true. I was angered about the way that I was left hanging out there because it was MY reputation on the line. From that point on… once I realized that there were people who …
