A Dearborn topless bar that served a man shots and beers until he passed out and vomited has admitted liability for the death the man caused in a subsequent car wreck.
The Pantheon Club on Michigan Avenue is being sued by the family of Kenneth Brzenzinski, who died March 20, 2006, in a nine-vehicle crash that also injured three people, including a pregnant woman. The driver, Ronnie S. Jackson, 38, of Belleville also acknowledged liability and is serving prison time after pleading no contest to second-degree murder.
“What’s left now is the award of compensation to the family,” Wayne County Circuit Judge John Murphy told potential jurors last week.
Detroit Strip Clubs: Cox defends handling of probe into Manoogian
October 25, 2009 at 4:12 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsCoxs name has resurfaced because Birmingham attorney Norman Yatooma is deposing three state police investigators who claimed in 2004 that the attorney general impeded their investigation into rumors of a wild party at the Manoogian Mansion that ended in the assault of a stripper.
Yatooma is representing Greenes family in a lawsuit against former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and city officials, claiming they conspired to derail an investigation into Greenes 2003 drive-by killing. Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans recently turned the investigation into Greenes murder over to the multi-jurisdictional Violent Crimes Task Force.
Cox said he closed the investigation into the party rumors and allegations of wrongdoing by Kilpatricks bodyguards after 130 witnesses had been interviewed and 90 subpoenas had been served. He said the state police interviewed 55 additional witnesses before their investigation ended.
The most popular version of the never-proven party rumor was that the mayors wife, Carlita Kilpatrick, happened upon the party and assaulted a stripper with a baseball bat.
