Detroit — The Detroit City Council is expected to vote in less than two weeks on whether to ban alcohol at strip clubs and require topless dancers wear opaque pasties.
Those two regulations were previously taken out of a broad crackdown on the city’s 33 topless bars. But council members decided today that they’ll include the provisions after hearing from a crime expert and a lawyer specializing in restricting strip clubs. The lawyer, Scott Bergthold, a Tennessee attorney, told the group that he believes the changes would withstand a court challenge from strip club owners.
Still, strip club owners are promising to go to court, where the city already is facing several lawsuits related to its regulation of clubs.

Cox will face questions in slain stripper lawsuit

Detroit — Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox will sit for a deposition next month in the lawsuit involving slain dancer Tamara Greene, a federal judge said today.
Cox is expected to be deposed on Dec. 11 in the lawsuit by the family of the slain dancer.
Greene, linked to a long-rumored but never proven 2002 party at the Manoogian Mansion, was killed in a Detroit drive-by shooting in 2003. Her family claims city and police officials obstructed the investigation of her murder for political reasons. The city denies the allegations.
Cox investigated the rumored party and concluded it was an “urban legend.” State police investigators, who were later deposed by Norman Yatooma, the attorney for Greene’s family, claim Cox quashed their investigation into whether the party happened.

Attorney General Mike Cox is trying to look to the future in his run for Michigan governor, but the past keeps getting in the way.
Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is back in the headlines, and Cox is in the center of the storm, accused by a state police trooper of hindering a murder investigation by helping bury tapes that may have contained evidence of a long-rumored party thrown by Kilpatrick at the Manoogian Mansion in 2002.
According to the rumors, stripper Tamara “Strawberry” Greene danced at the party and was attacked by Kilpatrick’s wife, Carlita. Greene was murdered in 2003, and her family has filed a civil suit against Kilpatrick and other city leaders, alleging a cover-up and bringing the story back into the spotlight.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Radical cleric tied to shooting at base in Texas
November 10, 2009 at 1:49 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsMany questions remain about Hasan’s state of mind, though another revelation Monday added to the complexity of his character. The general manager of a strip club about a quarter of a mile from the mosque where Hasan prayed five times a day, and next door to the gun shop where he bought the pistol used in the shootings, said Hasan was a customer.
The club manager, Matthew Jones, said Hasan had been in the Starz strip club at least three times in the last month. “He’s been here, yes,” Jones said, confirming a report that first appeared on Fox News. Jones said that sometimes Hasan stayed for six or seven hours and paid for lap dances in a private room. His latest appearance at the club came in late October, one of the dancers said.

November 10, 2009 at 7:00 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsHasan, who was shot and is at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, has regained consciousness and is able to talk, though it is unclear if he has spoken to federal investigators.
A lawyer for Hasan said Monday he had asked investigators not to question his client and expressed doubt he could get a fair trial. The lawyer, retired Col. John Galligan, said he was contacted by Hasan’s family Monday and was traveling to San Antonio.
Officials said Monday that Hasan will be charged in military court.

Detroit Strip Clubs: PC police ignored Hasan’s seditious comments
November 10, 2009 at 12:12 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsIn what is increasingly appearing to be a travesty of justice and a completely avoidable loss of life, more information has been released about Nidal Malik Hasan, the man responsible for killing 13 last week at Fort Hood in Texas.
Lt. Col. Val Finnell, a former classmate of Hasan, describes Hasan as openly seditious and as a justifier of suicide bombings. Yet, Finnell says that U.S. Army brass preferred to ignore the warning signs that they had an enemy within and instead bowed at the alter of political correctness for fear of facing a discrimination lawsuit.
Such revelations come as Hasan, a man who claimed to follow Sharia and live a life of a pious Muslim, was actually a frequent visitor to a Texas strip club for lap dances. This even as he emailed with Al-Qaeda.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Why Did a Muslim in Touch with Al-Qaeda Do It? We Know Why!
November 10, 2009 at 12:12 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsYeah, and it’s mind-boggling here: “The Army psychiatrist authorities say killed 13 people and wounded 29 others at the Fort Hood Army Base Thursday was a recent and frequent customer at a local strip club, employees of the club told FoxNews.com exclusively. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan came into the Starz strip club not far from the base at least three times in the past month.” Oh, and the guy was running around to his friends, “I’m going to miss you.” He gave away his clothes. He gave away his stuff. Why did he do it? “Jennifer Jenner, who works at Starz using the stage name Paige, said Hasan bought a lap dance from her two nights in a row.” This is a pious Muslim here, gang. This is exactly what the 9/11 hijackers did before they got on the planes. A couple of them went to Vegas. A couple of them went to strip clubs. They got it all in. They wanted to experience what the infidels experience before they reverted to their own piety, another similarity that Mr. Hasan has with some of the 9/11 hijackers.
