1/8/10 – The final defendant charged in the death of a former Brighton podiatrist is joining his accomplices and heading to prison. 24-year-old Kamico Jackson was senteced to 19 to 30 years in prison this week. 24-year-old Darrell Harris was ordered to serve between 14 and 30 years in prison while 32-year-old Teanna Keens received a 10 to 15 year sentence. 19-year-old Stephanie Cross received between 7 and 15 years behind bars. All of the defendants previously entered pleas to 2nd degree murder in the case. They had been charged with one count each of open murder and armed robbery in the death of Dr. Gary Ceresnie but pleaded to the lesser charges. Police say Keens and Stephanie Cross were posing as prostitutes when they were picked up by Ceresnie August 9th, who took them to a home on Detroit’s southwest side. That’s where Harris and Jackson attacked and robbed him. The 54-year-old Farmington Hills resident died after collapsing inside a nearby restaurant with cut wounds. An autopsy determined the cause of death was a heart attack brought on by the beating. (JM)
