Detroit Strip Clubs: Date set for Riddle’s second corruption trial
January 28, 2010 at 3:00 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsThat trial, before U.S. District Judge Marianne O. Battani, relates to allegations that Riddle and his former live-in partner, former state Rep. Mary Waters, bribed former Southfield City Councilman William Lattimore in connection with a pawn shop relocation.
Riddle and Waters have denied the allegations. Lattimore has pleaded guilty to a bribery charge.
Today was an off day in Riddle’s current corruption trial, stemming from allegations he shook down various business people while working as a top aide to former Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers.
But Riddle joked with the prosecutor in his case, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Cares, during a brief hallway encounter after the judge hearing the case, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn, met privately today with attorneys.
“You guys are bringing it,” Riddle told Cares, telling him the prosecution had a good day Wednesday when strip club officials accused Riddle of asking for $25,000 in exchange for Conyers’ vote on a strip club license transfer.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Peter Chianca: Jay-OK! Meet the new Leno
January 27, 2010 at 7:37 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No CommentsIn contrast, nine out of 10 respondents gave Conan O’Brien, the man Leno displaced, a 98 percent or higher approval rating, which puts him on par with Jimmy Stewart, Mother Teresa and the Ninja Baby from YouTube. This is despite the fact that only two out of those 10 respondents ever watched his show.
So in order to get back in the good graces of the viewing public, it is our opinion that Jay should immediately undertake the following eight reparative actions:
1) On his first show back at 11:30, he should ask himself, “What the hell were you thinking?” For best results, he should first make sure to first get caught picking up a prostitute, and also, possibly, poisoning the water supply of a local preschool. Both of these would be an improvement on his current image.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Sam Riddle’s federal bribery case in Detroit continues to shock
January 27, 2010 at 6:37 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsBack in the fall of 2006, two officers with Déjà vu Consulting, owner of a topless bar seeking to transfer the establishment’s lucrative business license into the city, allege that Riddle met with them at a Dearborn restaurant to explain how the city’s new strip-club license transfer system worked. This is how Jim St. John, president of Déjà vu Consulting, described the proposition — under oath is U.S. District Court — earlier today:
“Here’s a guy asking me for $25,000 and he’s wearing a gravy-stained tracksuit,” Hall said. “It was like something out of a bad movie.”
The week following that meeting, the Detroit City Council voted 5-4 against the topless bar license transfer — with Conyers, wife of long-time U.S. Rep. John Conyers, casting the deciding vote against the transfer.
