DETROIT (AP) – A 51-year-old Detroit man has been charged with impersonating a public officer after he interfered with a prostitution sting operation.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says William Quirindango (KEER’-ehn-dang-oh) also was charged Thursday with unlawful possession of a badge/patch/uniform. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Prosecutors accuse Quirindango of pulling alongside an undercover female officer Wednesday, flashing a badge, identifying himself as a police officer and yelling “get off the street.”
Another man who believed he was speaking with a prostitute drove away.
Quirindango was arrested as he drove away. A loaded .40-caliber handgun, hats and other clothing with police logos were found in his pickup.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Friday.

Ekklesia — the ancient Greek word for church — formed in early 2008 and began meeting at Livonia Mall. Within a few months, the congregation moved to a former church in Westland. Since October 2009, Sunday services have been held at Westland John Glenn High School.
With over 200 members — about 130 attending services on an average Sunday — Ekklesia is an interdenominational church that is part of the Vision 360 Network.
“We have four pastors who work as team — each one has an area of specialization. Jesus is a our senior pastor,” said Lambert, who does most of the preaching at Ekklesia services. “A lot of our members are people who had walked away from church — they didn’t like God. We’re good at outreach and committed to create a culture of love. Those who hung around with Jesus were outcasts and prostitutes.”

And the restavek system, for those of you who are unfamiliar with that, its a basically a system of fostering out children who then are working as child domestic servants, often abused, often exploited. They tend to age out because the Haitian law requires employers to pay domestic workers over the age of 15. And so one of the things that were concerned about and that we raised in the report last year was the notion that many of the street children whether its girls in prostitution, whether its boys engaged in crime, et cetera are basically restaveks who were disposed of by the families who had had them before. So thats that that notion of kind of the child domestic servant, often enslaved, usually given to the person because of promises that the child would be cared for, sent to school, et cetera. So thats one of the things that we are very concerned about is that as we rebuild, as we start to enter the rebuilding stage, that the child safety response is in place so that we dont see an even bigger increase in that restavek population.

Regulate, what did Warren G mean when he drawled on and on and said that we should regulate? Well, the more I saw the regulate video, the more amused I was at the choice of words that the musician chose to address social occurrences like drugs, gang banging, car jacking and the rings of prostitutes that swarmed all over streets and thoroughfares of Harlem and Detroit as soon as the dark crept in.

… When I first started working there, everything was interesting and weird,” he said. “You just never knew what kind of strange, obscure conversation you were going to have.”
What most struck Caward was that “normal” people would enter the shop and reveal things about their sex lives they wouldn’t dare tell even their closest friends.
“Woman would come in and talk in depth about what kind of dildo they needed, how big it had to be and how it felt . . . almost like you were selling them a toaster,” he said.
The best stories and anecdotes eventually became part of Caward’s first novel, Love Machine, a love story set among many of the things Kings Cross is famous for: strip clubs and drunks, spruikers and amateur criminals, kebab shops and homeless shelters. And, of course, an underground sex shop.

Prosecutors also played recordings of phone calls between Riddle and Conyers they picked up through a long-running wiretap of Riddle’s cell phone.
On Aug. 8, 2007, Conyers told Riddle to draw up a contract between his consulting firm, Meridian Management Systems, and the Phoenix Group.
“I’ll do it just like I did the other one,” Riddle told her.
But on Dec. 24, 2007, Conyers called Riddle to say she couldn’t find the contract.
“He signed it and I signed it,” Riddle said.
“We’ve got to find it,” Conyers said.
“Well, you’re a hell of a damn organizer,” Riddle said.
Washington’s testimony came in the sixth day of evidence in the trial. The government is expected to close its case against Riddle on Thursday.
Jurors earlier heard evidence about alleged shakedowns involving a technology company, a strip club and the $1.2 billion Synagro sludge contract.
