Detroit Massage Parlors: In Vancouver, enjoyment is an Olympic event

February 12, 2010 at 9:36 pm | In Detroit massage parlors | No Comments

In the last two decades Richmond has become Vancouver’s new Chinatown, home to the second-biggest Asian community in North America; Asian Canadians now make up about 60% of Richmond’s population.
Stepping into one of Richmond’s shopping malls is a quick trip to the contemporary Orient. Yaohan Centre has a giant pan-Asian supermarket, and Aberdeen Centre is classic, over-the-top Hong Kong, right down to a showy multimedia water-fountain production in the foyer.
There are Sikh temples, the biggest Buddhist temple in North America, Chinese foot massage parlors and herb shops, but I go to Richmond to eat, especially at the Richmond Night Market, open weekends throughout the summer. You can smell the spicy lamb kebabs and sautéed noodles long before you reach the maze of 300 stalls lighted by strings of lights and hazed in plumes of smoke from grilled squid and prawns.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Street View pulls Canadian murder scene

Street View pulls Canadian murder scene
‘We’re very sorry if it caused any distress’
Google has pulled images of an Ontario murder scene from Street View, the Windsor Star reports.
At around 2am on 21 July, 2009, 24-year-old Nicholas Ingram was stabbed to death in the parking lot of the Leopard’s Lounge and Broil strip club at 1190 Wyandotte St. W, Windsor.
Later that day, the Steet View vehicle passed by and captured the scene with “yellow police tape and a pool of blood”. The pictures didn’t go live until this week, and Google yesterday obscured the offending area.
Google Canada spokeswoman Tamara Micner said: “Street View on Google Maps shows what you would see if you were walking down the street yourself, so sometimes that means we capture sensitive or objectionable imagery. We worked quickly to remove this image after we were notified, and we’re very sorry if it caused any distress.” ®

Detroit Strip Clubs: Detroit City Council reworks proposed strip club rules

Detroit City Council reworks proposed strip club rules
Latest proposal allows liquor to be served, dancers would remain topless
Christine MacDonald / The Detroit News
Detroit –Likening opaque pasties on strippers to elaborate coifs on balding men, the City Council is watering down a crackdown on strip clubs, dumping regulations that would require dancers to cover up just a little.
“It’s kind of like a comb-over,” Council President Charles Pugh said Thursday. “You aren’t fooling anybody. You know what’s under there, I’m just saying.”
Under new rules, booze would remain, dancers would stay topless but have to perform on 18-inch tall stages, most employees would need special licenses from the city and VIP rooms would be a thing of the past.

“How many jobs have we lost because a business didn’t want to open up next to a strip club?” Mack asked.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Coalition Takes VANOC To Task For Failure To Secure Winter Games Against Human …

February 12, 2010 at 5:13 am | In Detroit adult entertainment | No Comments

The CSASS – made up of women’s groups, academics and politicians – pointed out that even without hosting the Winter Olympics, Vancouver is already grappling with an existing demand for prostitution and an organized criminal infrastructure. The situation is exacerbated by Vancouver’s proximity to the U.S. border and the city’s status as a regional gateway to Asia, which makes it a source and destination for trafficking victims.
Given these pre-existing conditions and the expected spike in demand for paid sex which typically happens during high-profile international sporting events, the CSASS said demand may exceed existing supply and this could trigger a higher influx of prostitutes from other parts of Canada and the world.

Following a statement from the Vancouver police that they are not planning any crackdown on prostitution during the Olympiad, the CSASS said it is giving Vancouver and the federal government of Canada a failing grade for not providing protection to women and youth against human trafficking during the duration of the Winter Games.

Detroit Escorts: Linda Robertson: Vancouver’s ‘real world,’ outside Olympic bubble

February 12, 2010 at 4:49 am | In Detroit escorts | No Comments

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Kelly Flanagan has not attended any parties for fur-frocked Olympic VIPs. Nor does she have tickets for figure skating, snowboarding or hockey — although she would love to see a curling match. She never has been skiing at Whistler, a snow resort.
But she does have Olympic pins, which she wears proudly on her old brown sweatshirt: “Homes Not Games.” “Broken Promises.” “Meals Instead of Medals.”
Flanagan lives in a transient hotel for women just five blocks from the B.C. Place stadium, where lavish Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held Friday Night. But she might as well live a million miles away from the gleaming waterfront condos, spotless trains, stylish haberdasheries and hip restaurants of Vancouver, one of the most picturesque, progressive, friendly and livable cities in the world.
Flanagan is a “working girl” in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the poorest postal code in Canada. She’s a prostitute on Hastings Street. She is a heroin and cocaine addict.

Detroit Escorts: Our Dirty Own

February 12, 2010 at 4:49 am | In Detroit escorts | No Comments

There was a rumor going around that homoerotic painter Marc DeBauch died, but he wants you to know he’s very much alive. And so is that horse giving that guy a, ahem, ride. Vile says it’s “some of the most hardcore subject matter that we have ever shown.” No kidding. But during the last two Detroit shows, all of his raunchy works went. If that’s any indication, his man-and-his-mustang piece – along with a fantasy portrait of the president who, Vile says, “appears to be as hung as that horse” – should gallop right out of the gallery and onto the wall of someone with a certain farmboy fantasy.
Plus-Size Pleasure
“Why does erotica have to be young and blond? Nothing against them, but what about us older, chubby girls?” asked former prostitute/porn star Annie Sprinkle a couple of years ago when she spoke with us. As California artists who’ve challenged the essence of erotica, Sprinkle and her partner Beth Stephens, an art professor, are doing something …

Detroit Escorts: Winter Olympics set to begin with a few issues to sort out

February 12, 2010 at 4:49 am | In Detroit escorts | No Comments

Protests should be limited Friday when more than 60,000 people assemble at BC Place Stadium for the first indoor Opening Ceremony – the culmination of a 106-day Olympic torch relay. No word on whether the red-gloved, cartoon kangaroo in the athletes’ village that drew the ire of the International Olympic Committee will be part of the festivities.
Still, many Canadians are angered over a 17-day Olympics projected to cost $5.6 billion. Vancouver officials forecast roughly $4 billion in benefits from hosting the Olympics – a small fortune, some argue, considering $1.9 billion spent on a light rail line, $825 million on a media center, $748 million on a highway and $580 million on venues.
And part of a $1.75 billion operating budget includes more than $900 million on security, topping the original estimate by about $725 million. That presumably doesn’t count extra money spent policing Vancouver’s salty Downtown Eastside, not a tourist destination for 350,000 visitors, unless they want to hang with homeless, drug addicts and prostitutes.

Detroit Escorts: The good times roll in New Orleans Saints’ parade

February 12, 2010 at 4:49 am | In Detroit escorts | No Comments

Brees is something else entirely. Chalk it up to the magic of football: New Orleanians in the last couple of days have been building a shrine to their beloved quarterback outside the gates of his home. With its heartfelt Sharpie-scrawled sentiments and random totems of life in this particular ‘hood — a six-pack of Abita, the local brew, a Hubig’s pie, a storied New Orleans junk-food staple — you’d think, observing from a distance, that the guy had been the victim of a drive-by, not a Super Bowl MVP.
“How’s the ‘Who Dat’ nation feel tonight?” Brees said as his float stopped at Gallier Hall. “We love you and we won that championship for you.”
A man took a microphone to wish Brees the best, on behalf of all of the fans who have waited 40-plus years for New Orleans to experience this moment. It turned out to be U.S. Sen. David Vitter, the family-values Republican running for reelection here despite the fact that his phone number famously appeared on a prostitution service’s list of clients.

Detroit Escorts: No verdict on day 4 in Detroit corruption trial

February 12, 2010 at 4:49 am | In Detroit escorts | No Comments

… Don’t hesitate to re-examine your own views and change your opinion if you are convinced it is erroneous,” the judge told the jury in the morning. “But don’t surrender your honest belief as to the weight or effect of the evidence solely because of the opinion of your fellow jurors or for the mere purpose of returning a verdict.”
Jurors met for only a few hours because Cohn said he had a personal commitment to attend. They won’t return until Tuesday. Friday is a day for jurors to tend to personal matters, and Monday is a federal holiday.
The jury has deliberated roughly 15 hours since closing arguments earlier this week.
Conyers, the wife of U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., pleaded guilty to conspiracy last summer and resigned. She admitted taking cash to support a sludge-recycling contract for Synagro Technologies of Houston in 2007.
Prosecutors call Riddle a “political pimp.” His lawyers, however, said he worked only part-time for Conyers and had a private consulting business, taking on clients who needed help at city hall.

Detroit Escorts: Let’s proceed with the Games

February 12, 2010 at 4:49 am | In Detroit escorts | No Comments

And although polls indicate that Canadians are over-the-top excited about the Games, the pavilion their government erected — bought for $10 million from an American firm — has been described as a dud that could be mistaken for a M.A.S.H. tent or temporary public toilet. Andy Yan, an urban planner with one of Vancouver’s most respected architectural firms, couldn’t help but note that the Saskatchewan and Quebec pavilions put the national effort to shame.
And that doesn’t even get to the controversies over the $900-million security bill, VANOC’s continued determination to go after any unauthorized reference — good or bad — to the Olympics, the dearth of snow on Cypress Mountain, pimps trafficking humans into Vancouver for the sex trade, or the decision by Prime Minister Stephen Harper to prorogue Parliament so MPs wouldn’t be distracted by the Games, then offer to address the B.C. legislature that went into session just as the Games began.
