Detroit Strip Clubs: A Hard Day’s Night

“I’m having a great year,” he says. “I’m lucky to have this going now.”
And he’s grateful to his three daughters, who are now supporting him in a sense, helping their not-so-computer-savvy dad keep up with his resurgent career in a changing landscape.
“The reward of this whole touring thing,” he says, “is that I can take them with me. So they can see what I do.”

Back in the early ’90s, Rachel Nagy’s friends got her drunk enough for her to finally admit her natural talent as a rough-and-tumble soul singer. Her first job, though, as a stripper, probably hinted at a future onstage.
Detroit Strip Clubs: I Likea Da Scrip Clubs…in Detroit?
March 28, 2010 at 3:00 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsAnd if the Lions do not sign Jones, what is he going to do? It has been said that he did well in his course work at West Virginia. But we have all heard him speak, quotes like, “I was being rebellion,” is among the dumbest phrases ever udder towards the media. I have to believe my 10-year-old niece could graduate from WVU right now. Chris Henry R.I.P., and Noel Devine were/are just a couple of the scholars to start their academic careers in Morgantown.
“I likea da scrip clubs.”
I like the strip clubs too, Pac Man. But if my name was Adam Jones, and if I stayed out of the strip clubs, I knew someone was going to give me a million dollars. Basically, I would stay home and pay $12.99 for ‘Boobaholics Annonymous’ On Demand.

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s wife and father have hired a Texas attorney to represent them in their upcoming depositions related to the investigation of slain stripper Tamara Greene’s death.
WXYZ reports that Carlita and Bernard Kilpatrick have hired Bobbie Edmonds, a judge and attorney based in Fort Worth, Texas who handles ”civil, personal, injury, criminal, employment and family” law cases.
Edmonds has represented clients in Michigan courts before. According to her Web site, she was one of the lead attorneys in a $4.5-million class action lawsuit for clients whose hair was damaged by the Rio Hair Naturalizer System during the 1990s. The settlement was awarded in 1996 by Judge Gerald Rosen of the U.S. Eastern District Court in Michigan — the same judge who ordered the Kilpatricks’ deposition last week.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Turn Off Your Lights, Richmond
March 27, 2010 at 9:36 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsU.S. landmarks such as Mount Rushmore, St. Louis’ Gateway Arch, the Las Vegas strip and the Empire State Building, and world attractions like the Eiffel Tower, Sydney’s Opera House and Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are just some of the hundreds of sites that will turn off non-essential lighting for the hour.
Here are some lights that Richmond could turn off to participate in this year’s Earth Hour. Thanks to a bunch of Twitter folks for the additional suggestions.
Club Velvet’s completely pointless spotlight. We know where the strippers are.
The new MeadWestvaco building. It doesn’t need to be seen from space.
The spinning marquee outside Movieland with the numerous blinking lights (the one facing Boulevard). People will still know where Movieland is.
The Christmas lights my idiot neighbors still have on their house.
The Sauer’s billboard on Broad St. I think it’s nice too, but I’d be okay with the chef not pouring vanilla extract for an hour.
The lights in Richbrau. They have been on every day. I know for a fact they aren’t open. Or are they reopening…?

March 24, 2010 at 11:36 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsLegal experts said a spousal privilege that respects confidences between a husband and wife would only apply to matters that happened up to the time the Kilpatricks divorced. There is no privilege that applies to communication between a mother and her son, experts said.
• In another federal case, Texas attorney Bobbie R. Edmonds filed appearances in the Tamara “Strawberry” Greene case late Tuesday on behalf of Bernard Kilpatrick and former Detroit first lady Carlita Kilpatrick.
Edmonds filed the court papers soon after Chief U.S. District Judge Gerald E. Rosen said both Kilpatrick family members could be deposed in the case, in which the family of a slain stripper is suing the city, alleging obstruction of her murder investigation. But Edmonds, citing a gag order in the case, would not discuss whether she would make further efforts to quash the subpoenas.
Detroit Strip Clubs: Making a pit stop:
March 24, 2010 at 5:48 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsThe album slows down at “You Got Another,” however. A sluggish song with little musical variation, it separates itself from the first half of zingy pieces. While the album picks up afterward, some songs, “It’s Going to Be I Told You So,” and “Santa Fe,” dip into the lackluster style of “You Got Another,” and stray away from the grotesque themes and musically diverse songs from before. At its end, the album redeems itself, finishing with the acoustic beauty, “Eyes Like Glue.”
Tackling Jesus, murder mysteries, loneliness, strippers, alcoholism — all against the backdrop of fast food restaurants and small towns in the south — the Drive By Truckers create a dark, troubling compilation about tragic folks in desperation. Although a bit whiney at times, they are ultimately something like the Flannery O’Connor of country music, only less enthusiastic about Jesus. Twelve years after the release of their first album, Gangstability, the southern rockers show they’ve flowered into a force to be reckoned with. Forgive me for being cheesy, but the Truckers keep on truckin’.

The off-field incidents might be the biggest factor for Detroit and any team considering signing Jones.
Before Dallas traded for him in 2008, Jones was arrested six times and involved in 12 episodes requiring police intervention after he was drafted in the first round out of West Virginia.
The most notable incident was in connection with a night at a Las Vegas strip club in 2007 during which a bouncer for the club was shot and paralyzed. Jones pleaded no contest to a charge of conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct after videotape evidence captured him throwing dollar bills in the club, leading to a melee.

DETROIT (AP) – The wife and father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick were ordered Tuesday to answer questions in a civil lawsuit alleging that officials stifled an investigation into the fatal shooting of a stripper.
U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen announced his decision after a two-hour hearing that was closed to the public.
Tamara Greene was shot several times while sitting in a parked car in April 2003. The 27-year-old, who danced under the name “Strawberry,” was rumored to have performed at a wild party at the city’s mayoral mansion in 2002.
The $150 million lawsuit isn’t seeking to find Greene’s killer, only to prove Kilpatrick, high-ranking police and other city officials stifled an investigation into the slaying and violated the rights of Greene’s survivors.

DETROIT — A judge has ordered the wife and father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to answer questions in a civil lawsuit tied to the fatal shooting of a stripper.
The family of Tamara Greene claims Kilpatrick and others stifled a probe of her 2003 death. Greene, who danced as “Strawberry,” was rumored to have performed at a wild party at the mayoral mansion in 2002.
U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen said lawyers for Greene’s family can interview Carlita Kilpatrick, Bernard Kilpatrick and a former Detroit police chief. It’s not known exactly why they will be deposed, although a former police records clerk said she saw a report that Carlita Kilpatrick beat Greene. The report has not been found and the Kilpatricks deny the allegation.
