Butorac is currently in custody facing two charges of second- degree murder in connection with the killings of two prostitutes from Langley and Abbotsford. He was arrested just over two years ago, on Jan. 7, 2008, after police set up 24-hour surveillance on him.
At that time, he was charged in connection to the murder of 50-year-old Sheryl Lynn Koroll of Langley and 46-year-old Gwendolyn Jo Lawton of Abbotsford. Koroll’s body was found on the grounds of a business on Mufford Crescent.
When Butorac was arrested, he was living with his father in their Aldergrove townhouse, just blocks from where Redford, 47, was found in the 27300 block of Fraser Highway.

Butorac’s trial in connection with the deaths of the two prostitutes is expected to begin in May. A separate trial is planned in connection with the Redford case.

But Evans insists he’s going after criminals, not violating citizens’ rights. “Say you pull a guy over and he doesn’t have a license. The smell of weed is so strong it knocks you out. That’s two violations right there. We’re going to take him out of the car, pat him down. What else does he have? Sometimes a gun. We’ve pulled hundreds, maybe.”
During a Feb. 26 night patrol, Evans and Jones pulled over eight vehicles. Violations ranged from broken windows to failing to obey stop signs. Of the eight vehicles stopped, only two had the required paperwork: driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. One motorist was in possession of an unregistered gun, which was confiscated. Another stop netted a carload of teenage boys smoking marijuana. They told police they were headed to a strip club.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Appeals court rules for Shelby County restrictions on strip clubs

The strip clubs themselves have argued in court filings that the new rules passed by the County Commission in September 2007 are meant to shut them down.
The ordinance would eliminate alcohol in the clubs, require all workers in such businesses to get licenses, and would keep performers at least 6 feet from customers and each other.
It would apply to all sexually oriented businesses, such as adult bookstores, and massage parlors, not just strip clubs.
The new ordinance faced an immediate challenge from owners of several strip clubs: Christie’s Cabaret; Downtown Dolls; The Gold Club; The Jet Strip; New York, New York; Platinum Rose, and The Pony. The clubs argued the law violates First Amendment rights to free speech.

Efforts to reach lawyers for the strip clubs were unsuccessful Tuesday afternoon.
