Detroit Strip Clubs: Angry Conyers vows to appeal 37-month sentence
March 10, 2010 at 11:49 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsConyers’ Detroit attorney, Steve Fishman, asked to withdraw from the case immediately after the sentencing hearing, saying Conyers may have appeal rights and he could be a witness at any appeal.
“This case is over for me,” Fishman said.
Conyers, 45, admitted in June she took at least $6,000 in cash bribes in connection with her vote on the $1.2 billion contract the council awarded to Synagro Technologies Inc. of Texas in 2007.
She had originally spoken out against the controversial deal, but her “yes” vote proved to be the deciding one as the contract passed 5-4.
Part of the controversy over the attempted plea withdrawal stemmed from Cohn’s comments that he would consider other “relevant conduct” such as alleged shakedowns of a strip club, a technology company and a real estate developer with matters before the City Council or the General Retirement System, where Conyers sat as a trustee.
Detroit Strip Clubs: Sexy ads should be censored
March 10, 2010 at 10:13 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsThen, last week, driving along Dougall Avenue near the train tracks, between Tecumseh and Eugenie streets, is a billboard for a rock station with a naked woman strategically covered with a guitar. Around the city is a similar ad with two naked men with strategic coconuts covering their body parts.
I understand businesses want their ads noticed but they have to understand there are children seeing these ads. This is not lighthearted humour. It is shock factor advertising to get the city talking, at the expense of our children’s innocence.
I am deeply offended that the advertising standards allow this and have filed a complaint there, too. I am disappointed the city can’t censor this type of advertising, like the strip club on Huron Church Road and their suggestive sign. What a wonderful impression Windsor must give the commuters who have to pass through our city regularly or for the first time.

March 10, 2010 at 2:13 am | In Detroit escorts | No CommentsAfter watch some television, the two twenty somethings convinced the victim to undress and jump in the shower.
“One of them, she (came) with me and she (said), ‘Open the water.’ I opened the water, and that other one, she said, ‘Can I enjoy, too,’” the victim said. “I (said), ‘Yeah, okay.’”
Now for the record scratch.
“She pulled a gun on me. They took my money. They took my Social Security number. They took my (driver’s) license, and they took my phone,” said the man.
He called 911 from a phone in the room. The suspects initially followed the victim to the motel in their blue Dodge Stratus, and it’s the same vehicle in which they left. They got about $200.
The victim says they were not prostitutes since money was never discussed.

March 10, 2010 at 2:13 am | In Detroit escorts | No CommentsThe man, 27, told police he met the two women at the MGM Grand and they agreed to follow him in their car to the Econo Lodge motel, 32703 Stephenson Highway, south of 14 Mile.
“He went and got a room at the desk and said the two women went with him to the room,” said Madison Heights police Lt. Robert Anderson. “He asked them to join him in the shower and went into the bathroom to disrobe.”
But once in the bathroom, the man told police one of the women pulled a handgun.
“He said they took less than $200 from his wallet and tied him up,” Anderson said.
The two women reportedly fled in a blue Dodge Stratus.
Police said the man wriggled free after he was tied up and called the desk person who alerted police about 3:45 a.m.
“He claims they weren’t prostitutes because money was never discussed,” Anderson said.
