Detroit Strip Clubs: Karmanos, Cheeks Kilpatrick testify before grand jury

There is no privilege that applies to communication between a mother and her son, experts said.
• In another federal case, Texas attorney Bobbie R. Edmonds filed appearances in the Tamara “Strawberry” Greene case late Tuesday on behalf of Bernard Kilpatrick and former Detroit first lady Carlita Kilpatrick.
Edmonds filed the court papers soon after Chief U.S. District Judge Gerald E. Rosen said both Kilpatrick family members could be deposed in the case, in which the family of a slain stripper is suing the city, alleging obstruction of her murder investigation. But Edmonds, citing a gag order in the case, would not discuss whether she would make further efforts to quash the subpoenas.
Detroit Strip Clubs: Making a pit stop:
March 24, 2010 at 5:48 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsThe album slows down at “You Got Another,” however. A sluggish song with little musical variation, it separates itself from the first half of zingy pieces. While the album picks up afterward, some songs, “It’s Going to Be I Told You So,” and “Santa Fe,” dip into the lackluster style of “You Got Another,” and stray away from the grotesque themes and musically diverse songs from before. At its end, the album redeems itself, finishing with the acoustic beauty, “Eyes Like Glue.”
Tackling Jesus, murder mysteries, loneliness, strippers, alcoholism — all against the backdrop of fast food restaurants and small towns in the south — the Drive By Truckers create a dark, troubling compilation about tragic folks in desperation. Although a bit whiney at times, they are ultimately something like the Flannery O’Connor of country music, only less enthusiastic about Jesus. Twelve years after the release of their first album, Gangstability, the southern rockers show they’ve flowered into a force to be reckoned with. Forgive me for being cheesy, but the Truckers keep on truckin’.
Detroit Strip Clubs: Lions consider Pacman Jones

The off-field incidents might be the biggest factor for Detroit and any team considering signing Jones.
Before Dallas traded for him in 2008, Jones was arrested six times and involved in 12 episodes requiring police intervention after he was drafted in the first round out of West Virginia.
The most notable incident was in connection with a night at a Las Vegas strip club in 2007 during which a bouncer for the club was shot and paralyzed. Jones pleaded no contest to a charge of conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct after videotape evidence captured him throwing dollar bills in the club, leading to a melee.

DETROIT (AP) – The wife and father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick were ordered Tuesday to answer questions in a civil lawsuit alleging that officials stifled an investigation into the fatal shooting of a stripper.
U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen announced his decision after a two-hour hearing that was closed to the public.
Tamara Greene was shot several times while sitting in a parked car in April 2003. The 27-year-old, who danced under the name “Strawberry,” was rumored to have performed at a wild party at the city’s mayoral mansion in 2002.
The $150 million lawsuit isn’t seeking to find Greene’s killer, only to prove Kilpatrick, high-ranking police and other city officials stifled an investigation into the slaying and violated the rights of Greene’s survivors.

DETROIT — A judge has ordered the wife and father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to answer questions in a civil lawsuit tied to the fatal shooting of a stripper.
The family of Tamara Greene claims Kilpatrick and others stifled a probe of her 2003 death. Greene, who danced as “Strawberry,” was rumored to have performed at a wild party at the mayoral mansion in 2002.
U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen said lawyers for Greene’s family can interview Carlita Kilpatrick, Bernard Kilpatrick and a former Detroit police chief. It’s not known exactly why they will be deposed, although a former police records clerk said she saw a report that Carlita Kilpatrick beat Greene. The report has not been found and the Kilpatricks deny the allegation.
