Detroit Strip Clubs: Kilpatrick refuses subpoena in Manoogian lawsuit

As if Kwame Kilpatrick didn’t have enough legal troubles already, a Wayne County Circuit Court jury heard testimony on Thursday that the disgraced former Detroit mayor refused to accept a subpoena to testify in a lawsuit brought by one of his former bodyguards, who alleges he was threatened and intimidated to remain silent about what he saw at an alleged party at Manoogian Mansion that may have led to the death of a stripper.
“I told him, ‘Mr. Kilpatrick, I have a subpoena for you.’ He told me to get out of his way,” Timothy Sargent testified today in Wayne County Circuit Judge Michael Sapala’s courtroom where Davis’ lawsuit against the city and Kilpatrick is being heard. “He told his guards to keep me away from him.” Sargent said he confronted Kilpatrick twice as he left Circuit Judge David Groner’s fourth-floor courtroom last week. Sargent rushed down the stairs to confront Kilpatrick again in front of the courthouse. Kilpatrick, who usually stops on the courthouse steps after h …

Prosecutors played it as evidence that Stone and his allies were intent on killing police officers.
“I think we gotta just start huntin’ ‘em here pretty soon. … They’re easy to find, they’re sittin’ alongside the road and they got these red and blue lights on top of their car,” Stone tells five others and the undercover agent.
Michael Meeks, 40, of Manchester, Mich., replied: “It’s like a Kmart super special or whatever.”
At another point, Stone says he knows where four officers live and “we can go burn their house down.” Laughter follows.
At times, they imitate the noise of guns and talk about poison, strippers, Chinese troops and United Nations forces — people in “magical blue helmets.” But they don’t refer to specific people they might be targeting.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Consultant gets 1 day jail sentence for bribing union leader

Assistant U.S. Attorney David Gardey said Jewett was prosecuted for promising a $266,000 kickback to Mabry — a crime he admitted. Jewett initially cooperated with the investigation but later “for unknown reasons, decided to stop cooperating with the government,” Gardey said.
Mabry, 64, is serving a federal prison sentence for receiving illegally discounted work on his Grosse Pointe Park home, but has not been charged in connection with the Jewett case. Mabry is due to be released in May 2011.
AA Capital was headed by John Orecchio, a Chicago businessman who awaits sentencing after pleading guilty in February to wire fraud and theft from an employee benefit plan in federal court in Illinois.
He admitted misappropriating more than $24 million invested by the carpenters and other union pension funds, spending the money on over $1 million worth of jewelry, luxury cars, travel, gambling and renovating a Detroit strip club, among other items.

… Before the series started, no one gave us a chance to win, not even one game,” said Halak, who stopped 131 of Washington’s 134 shots in Games 5-7. “We proved (to) them they were wrong.”
Montreal defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron scored a 4-on-3 goal in the last 30 seconds of the opening period after Norris Trophy finalist Mike Green was sent off for cross-checking. Dominic Moore made it 2-0 with 31/2 minutes left, stealing the puck from Green before beating goalie Semyon Varlamov.
Brooks Laich cut Washington’s deficit with 2:16 to go, and the Capitals then got one last power play a half-minute later, but couldn’t connect.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Pacman Jones has all the partying out of his system

… I don’t do the things that I used to do,” Jones said. “I don’t hang out with the crowd that I used to. I’m a grown man now. I have a little girl. I have a fiancée with another baby on the way. So them days are over with, the kid days. It’s about my family now.”[...]“You get older,” Jones said. “I was a kid straight out of college. Partying was what I liked to do back then. I’m pretty much partied out now.”
“I’m pretty much partied out now” — I love that that’s Pacman’s grand argument for getting back into the league. He’s pretty much saying, “Hey, believe me, guys, I have seen so many glitter-covered strippers that I can’t even stand the thought of stuffing another dollar into a g-string glowing in the black light. That is why I should be a part of your organization.”

Detroit Strip Clubs: Knifing victim to live

April 29, 2010 at 6:25 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

Police say it’s a lucky thing no one else got hurt early Wednesday when a fight broke out in a Windsor strip club and one man suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest.
Officers responded to the call around 2 a.m. at Leopard’s Lounge on Wyandotte Street West.
“That’s always a concern in these types of situations,” said Staff Sgt. Norm Burkoski of the Windsor police major crimes unit.
“You get a number of people in a confined space and the weapon is produced. There’s always a potential for serious injury.”
The 27-year-old victim, from Chatham, was still in serious condition Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the stabbing punctured the man’s lung, but he was expected to survive.
Investigators weren’t sure what sparked the fight and said it doesn’t appear the two previously knew each other.
