Detroit Adult Entertainment: Windsor methadone clinic raises fears
April 7, 2010 at 3:14 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No CommentsWINDSOR, Ont. â A new addiction clinic in a residential area of Windsor has given new hope to addicts but new fear to neighbours.
The former 2,000-square-foot Drouillard Road Clinic has transformed into the more modern, 5,000-square-foot Erie-St. Clair Clinic in the 1500 block of Lincoln Road, sandwiched between the Essex Terminal Railway and middle-class homes. Four doctors serve more than 400 patients.
“I don’t think it should be here,” said Nycole Colley, who lives with family across the street. “It’s bad for the kids in the neighbourhood. It should be in a hospital setting, or downtown. It shouldn’t be in a residential area.”
Colley said she sometimes feels uncomfortable walking past the clinic, which opened a week ago, and plans to attend a meeting at the facility tonight to express her concerns.
The clinic has fielded angry calls, while some patients have been called “prostitute” and other names.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Residents in Harrison Township are happy that a local eye-sore was demolished on Monday.
The Parkway Inn has been closed since 2005 and has been vacant. The owner did not have enough money to take care of the problems and the township did not have the funds to tear it down.
Neighbors said the property was a magnet for prostitution, drugs and all kinds of illegal activity.
The bill for the demolition will be sent to the property owner. The township hopes that it can find a new use for the land and redevelop the site.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Killer granted parole hearing
April 7, 2010 at 7:49 am | In Detroit adult entertainment | No CommentsJohn Cordell, a spokesman for the Michigan Department of Corrections, said the MDOC has a roughly $2 billion budget. He said $120 million was cut out of the department’s 2009 budget, resulting in the closure of three prisons and five camps, and the loss of about 5,400 beds. State officials have been grappling in recent years with declining tax revenues and other budget challenges.
“We’re one of four states that has a larger corrections budget than a higher education budget. I don’t think anyone sees that as a positive,” Cordell said. “One of the ways that we can create a smaller corrections system is to look at individuals who can be safely released through the commutation process and no longer pose a threat to society.”
On May 12, 1990, 28-year-old auto mechanic James Cotaling left his house in Auburn Hills and headed to Pontiac to buy a Mother’s Day card. He encountered Hernandez in the city. Posing as a prostitute, she lured him to an abandoned home she shared with her boyfriend on Howard Street.
