Paul Egan / The Detroit News
Detroit — The owner of two Detroit-area strip clubs appeared in federal court Friday charged with using an elaborate computer scheme to skim cash from his businesses and cheat the tax man.
Nicholas J. Faranso, 51, of Farmington Hills owns Tycoon’s on Eight Mile in Detroit and BT’s Lounge in Dearborn, according to a grand jury indictment unsealed Friday.
He is charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States and two counts of filing false tax returns. Also charged with conspiracy is Theodore R. Kramer, a computer dealer accused of supplying Faranso’s cash-skimming system.
The computer program Kramer provided “was specifically designed to remove a portion of the actual sales from his … sales journals so that he would have less income to report,” the indictment alleges.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Windsor neighbours say methadone clinic not welcome
April 9, 2010 at 11:37 am | In Detroit adult entertainment | No Comments… Can you tell me there will be no prostitutes, or people with violent criminal histories using their clinic?’—Susan Compter, neighbour
The people who live in the area say they’re angry the clinic opened without any warning and they are not too happy with their new neighbours.
Residents met with the clinic’s directors and ward councillors on Wednesday evening at a meeting that quickly descended into shouting.
“You’re not welcome,” said one resident. “I’m sorry you’re gonna have to find another solution.”
The clinic distributes methadone, a synthetic opioid used to help treat people addicted to drugs such as heroin and morphine.
But the neighbours don’t like the type of clients the clinic attracts.
“Can you tell me there will be no prostitutes, or people with violent criminal histories using their clinic?” said Susan Compter.
