Affidavit details disturbance at Manoogian Mansion
(AP) DETROIT – A former dispatcher claims that a reported disturbance at the home of then-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick escalated after his wife was brought to the house to let officers in.
Attorney Norman Yatooma has filed Sandy Cardenas’ affidavit in U.S. District Court in a civil suit charging Kilpatrick and others with blocking an investigation into stripper Tamara Greene’s slaying.
Greene is purported to have danced at a never-proven party at the mayoral mansion several months before her shooting death.
Cardenas says she received several calls to dispatch officers to the mansion in October 2002, but no one would open the doors. She says officers later told her the “disturbance heated up” after Carlita Kilpatrick was brought to the mansion.
Yatooma also has asked the judge hearing the civil suit to unseal documents.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Ex-dispatcher: I sent cops to ‘02 Manoogian disturbance

Officers couldn’t get entry to the mayor’s mansion because the doors were locked, so they picked up Carlita Kilpatrick, the wife of then-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, and brought her to the mansion, says a sworn affidavit from former Detroit police dispatcher Sandy Cardenas.
“Detroit police officers, one of whom was a sergeant, told me that once Carlita got inside the mansion, the disturbance heated up immediately and an assault took place,” Cardenas said in the affidavit.
The next night, Cardenas said she learned from other dispatchers that a Detroit police officer from internal affairs came to the dispatch center and removed all of the 911 tapes of the run.
A sworn affidavit from Cardenas is among new documents filed in a lawsuit brought against the city of Detroit by the family of slain exotic dancer Tamara “Strawberry” Greene.
Greene, a dancer who was linked to a rumored stripper party at the Manoogian Mansion in the fall of 2002, was shot to death in Detroit on April 30, 2003.

A federal grand jury indictment was unsealed Friday charging Farmington Hills business owner Nicholas Faranso with conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service.
Faranso owns entertainment clubs, BT’s in Dearborn, and Tycoon’s in Detroit.
The Farmington Hills resident was arraigned Friday on charges of conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service and three counts of filing a false tax return, signed under penalties of perjury.
Theodore Kramer was also charged with conspiracy to defraud the IRS. Kramer sells computer software, including point of sales systems for business.
The indictment charges that, during 2001 through 2004, Faranso and Kramer used touch screen software to under-report cash receipts for the clubs. In addition, Faranso failed to report cash payments he received from his employees as a condition of working at his clubs.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Judge asked to allow greater access to files in Greene case

… My clients are particularly concerned with what appears to be the efforts by the parties to increasingly attempt to conduct the case away from public scrutiny,” attorney James E. Stewart of Butzel Long, writing on behalf of The Detroit News and WXYZ-TV, said in a letter to Chief U.S. District Judge Gerald E. Rosen.
Rosen is considering a motion from the Detroit Free Press to unseal certain filings in the lawsuit brought against the city of Detroit by the family of Tamara “Strawberry” Greene. The judge has cited the need to protect an ongoing investigation into Greene’s killing and concerns about privacy rights as reasons for the unusual level of secrecy in the civil lawsuit.
Greene, a dancer who was linked to a rumored stripper party at the mayor’s Manoogian Mansion in the fall of 2002, was shot to death in Detroit on April 30, 2003.

DETROIT (AP) – Lawyers for the family of a slain Detroit stripper are asking a judge to unseal documents in a civil lawsuit that claims city officials stifled the murder investigation.
Norman Yatooma says publicity about the case helps produce tips about Tamara Greene’s still-unsolved slaying.
He says confidence in the court system would be enhanced if U.S. Chief District Judge Gerald Rosen lifts a gag order on attorneys in the case and opens future court hearings to the public.
Yatooma is suing former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and others, claiming they intentionally blocked the murder investigation. They deny it.
The judge says publicity could harm a new investigation. Yatooma filed a response Saturday in reply to objections about secrecy by the Detroit Free Press.

Detroit Strip Clubs: NHL Betting Free Picks: Back To The Futures

The general idea at this stage isn’t so much trying to pick a winner, but to take a good price that will hopefully give us some hedge opportunities down the road.  I’ll update these as the playoffs progress, but deciding when to start ‘buying back’ against these positions is sort of like ‘playing chicken’.  The longer you wait the better, but obviously if you’ve taken a position on a team that gets eliminated early there’s not much you can do about it.  On the other hand, if you have good prices on teams that are able to make it through a couple of rounds it sets up a variety of profitable options.
This season sets up nicely for some ’speculative’ future plays as the favorite has some serious liabilities.  Currently, Washington is favored at most sportsbooks.  You can’t deny their regular season success, they were downright dominant on their home ice (only 5 losses in regulation this season) and very good on the road.  They’ve got arguably the best player in the game in Alex Ovechkin and can score like Tiger Woods in a strip club.  The big question about Washington is their defense and goaltending, which is decidedly mediocre.
