“President Kaczynski was one of the strongest pro-family leaders in Europe,” said Larry Jacobs, managing director at the World Congress of Families, in a statement. “Despite intense pressure from the European Union, he stood firm for the right to life. The late president also opposed the legalization of prostitution and the normalization of homosexuality.”
Kaczynski, his wife, and nearly 100 other people on board were killed Saturday when their plane crashed while trying to land in Russia. The late president and a high-profile delegation that included military, economic and civic leaders were traveling to Russia for the 70th anniversary of the Russian massacre of Polish prisoners of war in Katyn Forest during World War II.

The saga of GOP gubernatorial candidates all accusing one another of being behind ads attacking them continues. Now it’s Mike Cox’s turn to accuse Rick Snyder of being responsible for a a radio ad attacking his role in the investigation of a party at the Manoogian Mansion in Detroit that resulted in the death of a stripper who allegedly performed at the party. The Detroit News reports:
Mike Cox’s gubernatorial campaign charged today a radio attack ad on the attorney general’s role in investigating an alleged party at the Manoogian Mansion was engineered by Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder, his rival in the governor’s race. Snyder aides renounced the 60-second spot and denied the campaign had anything to do with it. Williams’ deposition is the latest development in a lawsuit against Kilpatrick and the city brought on behalf of the Greene family that claims the investigation into her murder was quashed. Greene also is said to have danced at the alleged party in the fall 2002. Rumors suggest a stripper was beaten by Kilpatrick’s wife after she caught her husband in a compromising position.
Whatever the truth, there is no doubt that Williams has had a checkered police career often in close proximity to powerful men.
When the party was said to have happened, Williams worked in the office of Police Chief Jerry Oliver. Later, she was transferred to Kilpatrick’s executive protection unit.
By February 2008, Williams was working in the vice squad, where she and a half-dozen others were placed on desk duty in March 2009 pending an investigation that they falsified prostitution arrest reports and shook down club owners. Williams has returned to full duty with the narcotics squad, although disciplinary action is pending in the vice squad investigation, a department spokesman said.
