May 30, 2010 at 5:01 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsThe fully nude club made headlines in 2007 when it operated under the name Atlantis Lounge. It was there that a 17-year-old Wyandotte girl worked illegally as a nude dancer. She was hired after showing an older friend’s driver’s license.
A couple of days after she began working there, Stephanie Michelle Brown left the club with two patrons and died a few hours later of a drug overdose.
Deleon Alexander II, a former Ecorse Community High School volunteer basketball coach, was charged with providing Brown with the cocaine that killed her.
He was the first person convicted in Wayne County under a new law that holds dealers responsible when their drugs kill someone.
In 2009, five Bada Bing! employees pleaded guilty to violating the city’s adult cabaret ordinance for not being licensed to work at a strip club.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Thursday Morning Cupcheck – A Guide to Chicago Sports History
May 29, 2010 at 5:48 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsTired of all this Dallas Stars talk that’s been dominating the airwaves? Here’s a welcome change of pace.
Good morning, hockey fans! Here’s hoping you bet the farm on Jaroslav Halak’s 0-9 record when facing 25 or fewer shots this postseason, and became rich beyond any easily-impressed GM’s wildest dreams. Last week we took science and reason and twisted them to our own nefarious purposes to prove Only-God-Knows-What; this week, I was planning on taking a break from the media circus surrounding the Dallas Stars and getting in a little R&R at my favorite rural Illinois strip club,
Phat Cows, but recent events in el mundo de hockey stayed my course. Of course, I’m talking about the historic Stanley Cup Finals matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers, two teams whose last Stanley Cup victories can be measured in geologic terms.

May 28, 2010 at 1:12 pm | In Detroit escorts | No CommentsRose Chichkan didnât think it could get worse than the prostitutes and crack dealers â until two suspects in a vicious robbery landed on her seventh-floor balcony.
The feisty senior was horrified when the fugitives jumped from an eighth-floor balcony and burst into her home in a desperate attempt to escape police.
She said the terrifying ordeal is yet another sign of the social and criminal decay that has plagued her building and her neighbourhood.
âIf anybody older had that happen to them, I think they would have a heart attack,â said Chichkan, 70.
…
âThis building is so bad anymore,â said Chichkan. âAll kinds of riff-raff and prostitutes, crack dealers. A prostitute comes on the floor quite often. She knocked on my door a few times. I said youâre in the wrong apartment, youâll get nothing here.â

Judge keeps some records sealed in stripper slaying
Oralandar Brand-Williams / The Detroit News
Detroit –A federal judge has affirmed his earlier ruling to keep some court records in the civil case involving the death of murdered exotic dancer Tamara Greene sealed to local media outlets.
U.S. District Court Judge Gerald E. Rosen ruled he will keep court files closed to The Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, WXYZ-TV (Channel 7), WDIV-TV (Channel 4) and WJBK-TV (Channel 2).
“I have a concern that the ongoing investigation of the Tamara Greene homicide not be adversely impacted,” said Rosen in the opinion released Wednesday. “I’m trying to accomplish two overall objectives. I’m trying to allow the plaintiffs as much discovery and latitude in discovery to discover their case and to prepare their case, while, at the same time not trespassing upon the ongoing investigation such that it could unduly chill witnesses from coming forward, impact witness(es)’ recollection of events, have people come forward who may not be real witnesses.”

(AP) LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Democrats have partially restored some public school financing. A bill that cleared the state House today mostly along party lines would give schools $65 more per student than now scheduled for the rest of this budget year.
DETROIT – A federal judge is refusing to unseal some documents in a civil lawsuit tied to the unsolved killing of a Detroit stripper, saying that the ongoing homicide investigation must be protected. But the judge says some sealed records will become public as the lawsuit by Tamara Greene’s family against police officials and ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick moves toward a trial.
DETROIT – A Detroit man accused of a double-slaying reported by an eight-year-old girl will be arraigned next week. Derrick Smith is charged with fatally shooting Monica Botello and Purcell Carson at Carson’s home March 1. Botello’s daughter pleaded for help in a call to a 911 dispatcher, but didn’t know the address.

Detroit Escorts: Your Sestak-Obama Path of Bribery To The Bottom Update
May 26, 2010 at 1:13 pm | In Detroit escorts | No CommentsMorris, besides being an all around gasbag, is best known for his work in the Clinton White House, specifically turning Clinton into a “moderate” and getting him re-elected. In 1996, Morris was caught letting a prostitute listen in on his calls with the president and he was let go. Since then, Morris writes books (with his wife) criticizing the Democrat of the moment and being a worm on Fox News, acting like he knows of what he’s talking. Of Morris’ many, many awful quotes from his writings, this may be our favorite due to its overwhelming tragedy: “Katrina has the capacity to shape the second Bush term in the same way September 11 shaped his first term—not only in rebuilding New Orleans but in taking preventative steps around the nation to bolster our defenses against natural and man-made disasters and terror strikes. Responding to disasters is a source of presidential strength and popularity, and Bush is about to show how it is done.”
Detroit Adult Entertainment: Crime rates down for third year, despite recession
May 25, 2010 at 5:37 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No CommentsViolent crime fell 6.6 percent in the South, 5.6 percent in the West, 4.6 percent in the Midwest and 3.5 percent in the Northeast.
In Washington, where the number of murders fell from 186 to 143, Phil Mendelson, chairman of the D.C. Council’s public safety committee, said case closure rates have gone up as detectives work more quickly and information is shared more within the department.
The police department in Columbus, Ohio, where the violent crime rate went down 10 percent, has been trying different neighborhood strategies, including directpatrols of precinct hot spots aimed at reducing thefts and prostitution. Sgt. Rich Weiner said it is difficult to quantify the role the economy plays in crime rates. Voters last summer approved a city income tax increase that saved 300 police jobs, Weiner said. The city got $1.25 million in federal stimulus money last year to pay the salaries of about 25 new police recruits.
