DETROIT — The one-time aide and former lover of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the city’s ex-police chief have been dropped from a lawsuit in the fatal shooting of a stripper.
Norman Yatooma is the lawyer for the family of stripper Tamara Greene, who danced as “Strawberry.” Yatooma says ex-chief of staff Christine Beatty, ex-Chief Ella Bully-Cummings and other police were dropped from the federal lawsuit at his request.
Kwame Kilpatrick and Detroit remain as defendants in the $150 million suit. Yatooma said Tuesday he hopes it moves faster with fewer defendants. The trial is to start in January.
Greene was shot to death in 2003 and is rumored to have performed at a never-proven party at the mayor’s official residence.

Birmingham — The lawyer for the family of slain exotic dancer Tamara “Strawberry” Greene says he is dismissing all but two defendants in the family’s federal lawsuit related to her murder investigation.
Norman Yatooma said at a news conference today he is dismissing all defendants except the city of Detroit and former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
The move is an effort to expedite the case, which is scheduled to go trial in January.
It will be easier to schedule depositions if there are fewer attorneys to deal with, he said.

Greene, who was linked to a rumored stripper party at the mayor’s Manoogian Mansion in the fall of 2002, was shot to death in Detroit on April 30, 2003.

A couple of days after she began working there, Stephanie Michelle Brown left the club with two patrons. She died a few hours later of a drug overdose.
Deleon Alexander II, a former Ecorse Community High School volunteer basketball coach, was charged with providing Brown with the cocaine that killed her.

In 2009, five Bada Bing! employees pleaded guilty to violating the city’s adult cabaret ordinance for not being licensed to work at a strip club.
Detroit Adult Entertainment: Convicted killer Peter Dale MacDonald fears for life in jail, court hears
June 1, 2010 at 7:49 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No CommentsPeter Dale MacDonald, who appeared briefly in court on a second-degree murder charge, said heâs been the victim of âharassment of a very insidious natureâ at the hands of corrections officers.
âItâs well documented Iâm having serious problems with guards,â said MacDonald. âMy life is in danger in the Ontario region.â
The Windsor police major crimes unit ended a decade-old cold case in January by charging MacDonald with the murder of Michelle Charette, 40. It was the second time police charged him with the crime. Police believe MacDonald strangled Charette and left her half-naked body in an abandoned field in the summer of 2000.
MacDonald is already serving a life sentence for strangling James Campbell in his Toronto home in April 2000.
He is also a suspect in the killing of Byron Carr, 36, of Charlottetown, P.E.I., more than two decades ago. Toronto police have also interviewed him as a suspect in the murders of three prostitutes.
