Detroit Strip Clubs: Profile: Gubernatorial candidate Mike Cox, son of immigrants, was raised to …

Laura Cox said it was a private matter. If anything, she hoped others would learn “people can get to the end of it, and have a better marriage. We just want to move on, and we have in our lives.”
Investigation questioned
But the “gum on my shoe” that won’t go away is Cox’s investigation of a rumored 2003 party by former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick at the Manoogian Mansion. Critics have questioned whether Cox soft-pedaled the investigation as a favor to Kilpatrick.
Cox said the party is an “urban legend.”
As the story goes, Kilpatrick’s wife assaulted a stripper, Tamara Greene, who was later killed. No one has shown direct evidence of a party. Cox recently gave a deposition, which like other evidence in a lawsuit against the city of Detroit has been sealed in federal court. Cox volunteered to be questioned in open court.

Detroit Strip Clubs: A show with a monkey on its back

June 27, 2010 at 12:00 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

Warren gets his comeuppance, of course, with Chauncey parlaying the sex tape into a porn career (abetted by cameos from adult-film stars Belladonna, Evan Stone and Ron Jeremy), and then flipping the script on Warren, who was so miserable in his trumph that it was hard to feel crushed by his downfall.
Maybe he’s better suited to hanging with humans than other puppets, this soulless little dishrag. Last week, he participated in a fantasy role-playing game as a means of stemming his sexual desire (a Dr. Drew suggestion), and he seemed more lifelike attempting to dress down his fellow dweeby players. This week, he effectively hijacks a class of middle-schoolers, taking them to visit a homeless shelter, a streetcorner drug dealer, a bar and a strip club. “These are the kind of skills that can help you pay for college,” he tells the young women in the group.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Chauvel appointed to global HIV commission

June 26, 2010 at 7:13 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No Comments

NZAF Patron and former Justice of the High Court of Australia Michael Kirby has also been made a Commissioner.
The NZAF says it is delighted the new UN organisation has been established to tackle legal and policy challenges surrounding HIV.
Executive Director Rachael Le Mesurier says the political clout and international prominence of the UN will push these issues to the forefront of the global agenda.
“And we’re incredibly proud that people from, and close to, the NZAF have been selected to take part.”
Le Mesurier says from its earliest days, the NZAF was very clear that human rights legislation was a priority if NZ was to have an effective response to HIV. She says it advocated strongly for human rights legislation related to HIV including the Homosexual Law Reform Act in 1986, the Human Rights Amendment in 1993 and the Prostitution Law Reform Act in 2003.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: HBO’s Hung and Entourage return on Sunday

Hung, a half hour HBO comedy starring Thomas Jane as Ray Drecker, a struggling suburban Detroit high school basketball coach who resorts to male prostitution returns for a new season on HBO this Sunday.
Also returning this weekend to HBO is the seventh season of Entourage, a comedy-drama series chronicling the life of Vincent Chase (played by Adrian Grenier), a young film star, and his childhood friends from Queens, New York City, as they navigate the unfamiliar terrain of Hollywood, California.
Season two of Hung returns to the still recession-plagued suburbs of Detroit, Michigan with Ray Drecker continuing to earn extra income by selling his services as a romantic companion to lonely women. This season Ray’s life becomes more complicated as Lenore Bernard (Rebecca Creskoff) tries to take over the job of pimp form Tanya Skagle (Jane Adams).

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Review: ‘Hung’ returns for season two on HBO

June 26, 2010 at 7:13 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No Comments

Tanya (Jane Adams), Ray (Thomas Jane) and Lenore (Rebecca Creskoff) discover that it’s hard out here for two pimps and their ho in season two of “Hung.”
Last summer, I started to feel like that guy who doesn’t understand why his friends keep complaining about his new girlfriend.
The girlfriend in question was “Hung,” the HBO dramedy about a well-endowed Detroit high school coach (Thomas Jane) who, desperate for cash, decides to try his hand at male prostitution. When I wrote positive reviews of it, friends, readers and even fellow critics were incredulous: “Really? You like that show?” Soon, it became a default insult for any fan of a show I had just criticized: “Yeah, like I take that seriously from the guy who keeps writing about ‘Hung.’” An interview subject actually derailed our conversation for a good 5 minutes so he could try to figure out what it was I was seeing that he wasn’t.
And how do I feel about “Hung …

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Fresh challenges in Kenya HIV battle

June 26, 2010 at 7:13 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No Comments

… When my married partner comes to see me she tells her husband that she has gone on an official trip and maybe when she is doing this her husband also has his ‘mpango wa kando’ (sexual fling). Then when they get back together they engage in sexual relations. We are all at risk; it is a vicious interconnected cycle,” she says.
Erica alleges that Kenyans assume sexual minority groups don’t transmit HIV.
“We are very vulnerable. For us lesbians we don’t even have any form of protection and people still think we can’t get affected and are at low risk and that’s not true. We need to be involved in the battle against HIV,” she says.
Just when I begin to think I’ve heard it all, I meet John who is a gay commercial sex worker.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: "Hung" Up on the American (Gigolo) Dream

June 26, 2010 at 7:13 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No Comments

But his life, as we learned in Season 1, is anything but bliss: he’s struggling to rebuild his modest home after a fire. He’s on the verge of losing his day job at the school where he was once a sports hero, thanks to budget cuts. He’s dealing with a shallow ex-wife and two teenage kids with love-life issues of their own.
And, oh yeah, when we last left him, two novice pimps were cat-fighting over who gets to hawk his services as a male prostitute to lonely ladies.
“Hung,” we’re glad to report, returns to HBO Sunday night to further explore territory that’s less “American Gigolo” than American Dream.
The show, which takes place outside of economically devastated Detroit, is riddled with broken dreams. There’s forty-something Ray (Thomas Jane), whose life never lived up to high school expectations. There’s Tanya (Jane Adams), the neurotic failed poet and baker (her laminated poems baked into bread flopped), who’s also not much of pimp. There’s Ray’s ex, Jessica (Anne Heche), whose new marriage to a dull dermatologist sours after she discovers he’s in financial straits.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: ‘Hung’ Stars Talk Secrets Of Season 2, Co-Starring With The ‘Men In Black’ Pug

Thomas, who showed up at his premiere with an unlit cigar and sporting shoes that separated his toes (Season 1 he was barefoot on the premiere red carpet), said it was easy to sink his acting teeth into Ray’s Season 2 arc.
“It’s nice to see the characters grow and evolve. I like what the writers are doing with Ray. They are allowing me to show what it takes to be a strong man in a crazy world,” he said. “Ray’s learning it’s not enough to just satisfy women sexually, but he’s also learning to be a strong more confident man for himself.”
Beyond Ray, there’s some growing for his pimp, Tanya, played by Jane Adams, and his other pimp, Lenore (Rebecca Creskoff), who are about to face off for his loyalties and business opportunities.

One killed, two wounded inside Detroit strip club
The Detroit News
Detroit — One person was killed and two others wounded early Friday morning in shootings inside a strip club in southwest Detroit, police said Saturday.
The fracas started when two people engaged in an argument inside the Starvin Marvin Platinum Club on Michigan Avenue between Cicott and Clippert, said police.
One patron shot another patron, who later died. The suspect attempted to leave the club when he was shot by a patron carrying a concealed weapon, according to John Roach, spokesman for the Detroit Police Department.
The man with the CCW also hit another patron, said Roach.
Roach said the suspect involved in the initial altercation and the patron with the CCW are both in custody.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Live, Pick-by-Pick Analysis for NBA Draft Lottery

June 25, 2010 at 1:37 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

Very Quick Take: Wall – an athletic and skilled point guard – will give life to a stale Washington franchise. Look for Wall and Gilbert Arenas to form an exciting, high-scoring backcourt. And look for the Wizards, with new owner Ted Leonsis taking charge, to improve in 2011.
2) Evan Turner (Ohio State University to Philadelphia 76ers, shooting guard).
Very Quick Take: The rebuilding 76ers hope Turner’s all-around game makes them relevant again in Philadelphia. A mature and steady playmaker, Turner will fit next to athlete Andre Iguodala and developing Jrue Holiday.
3) Derrick Favors (Georgia Tech University to New Jersey Nets, power forward).
Very Quick Take: There’s no guarantee the Nets – even with new billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov throwing his money around like Nelly at the strip club – sign a top free agent power forward. Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh, and Amar’e Stoudemire could go elsewhere, so adding Favors makes sense.
