Detroit’s All-Star Strip Club Padlocked
myFOXDetroit.com Staff Reports
Authorities shut down a Detroit strip club that’s accused of hiring a 14-year-old girl to be a topless dancer.
A padlock was put on the All-Star Club on Eight Mile late Monday afternoon.
In addition to the accusations of hiring a child, the club has also been the scene of numerous shootings in recent years. Some of those incidents were fatal.
“There’s always a clientele for places like this, and I’m not mad at the clients. It’s the behavior outside the place, and it’s the behavior that destroys the community,” said Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans. “Eleven shootings over a number of years… three fatal shootings… Who wants to live around that kind of activity?”
Authorities hope new owners will take over the company and conduct better and safer business practices.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Neighbors celebrate the shutdown of troublesome strip club

July 12, 2010 at 5:00 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

Residents of a northwest Detroit community say they have reason to celebrate today. After working for years to get the All Star strip club shut down, it is happening.
“It’s a victory for the community,” says Winfred Blackmon, president of the neighborhood association.
The club has been a hot spot for trouble. Detroit police say in the last six years, there have been 14 shootings inside or immediately outside the club. Three of the shootings were deadly.
In April, police learned a 14-year-old girl had been performing there. The club’s manager, Andrew Hutson, is accused of hiring the girl and allowing her to dance there. He is facing criminal charges.
This morning, a judge signed an order to padlock All Star strip club for one year. Detroit police officials, prosecutors and residents will be there this afternoon at 4:30 to padlock the business.

Detroit — A strip club where authorities say a 14-year-old girl performed was ordered closed for one year today by Wayne County Chief Circuit Judge Virgil Smith Jr.
Smith signed the order of abatement of a public nuisance calling for the closing of All Stars Lounge. A formal padlocking of the exotic dance club on Eight Mile between Greenfield and Schaefer is planned for 4:30 p.m. Smith ordered the club’s owner earlier this month to surrender the keys to All Stars.

The girl also has testified that she worked at two other strip clubs before being hired at All Stars and that another underage girl she went to Northwestern High School with also worked at the club. She was caught only a month after club owners promised to clean up their act by entering into a consent agreement with prosecutors for a number of violations dating to 2003.

DETROIT (AP) – Police and the Wayne County prosecutor’s office are expected to lock up a Detroit strip club where they say a 14-year-old girl performed.
The formal padlocking of All Stars Lounge is planned Monday afternoon. The club is to remain closed for a year.
County Circuit Judge Virgil Smith also is to hold a hearing Monday morning on the padlocking order. The club’s attorney Timothy Murphy had said he would file an appeal.
Club manager Andrew Hutson faces a preliminary examination Tuesday on a charge of child sexually abusive activity. He was arrested in April after the girl’s mother told police she pulled her daughter from the club.
Police said the girl may have danced there several nights each week, making about $350 per night.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Review: ‘Mrs. Warren’s Profession’

Nature seemed to be offering her own commentary, often in league with director Timothy Near, at Saturday’s opening of George Bernard Shaw’s long controversial, still eminently pertinent 1894 comedy about prostitution and free-enterprise economics.
Near and set designer Erik Flatmo may have walled off the Bruns Amphitheater’s usual view of the pastoral hills behind the stage, but a dense fog rolled in as if on cue as the scene switched from a sunnily rural rose garden to industrial London – and the air grew chillier with each new revelation about the pervasiveness of prostitution underlying the characters’ lives and our own.

Reeling from her daughter’s declaration of independence, Ross strips her genteel mannerisms to reveal the street-savvy hooker beneath, as well as the pervasive exploitation of women that she escaped from and the extent of the brothel conglomerate she runs, from Brussels to Budapest.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Welcomes for Heat’s James, Bosh, Wade pouring in: free pest control

Welcomes for Heat’s James, Bosh, Wade pouring in: free pest control> Posted by Sarah Talalay on July 9, 2010 01:57 PM
A New York strip club offered LeBron James a lifetime of free lap dances if he played for the New York Knicks. But Truly Nolen knows while South Florida may offer paradise (and lap dances and no state income tax free), it does have its insects.
That’s why the company is offering five years of free pest control to James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. Because, well, you know, that thing about defense. That’d be free service through July 8, 2015.
“Like these three superstar players, our company believes the best offense is the best defense,” Michelle Senner, Truly Nolen’s director of marketing and philanthropy said in a statement. “Whether LeBron or Chris block shots or Dwyane steals the ball, they remind us of our tenacious technicians.” It was one of the company’s technicians who suggested they offer the service since, well, the players have plenty to pay attention to on the court.

… LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IF YOU’LL PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT AND DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THE JUMBO TRON.”
Then seeing my face on the Screen:
“Babe, we’ve been together now for seven great years and you have shown me an awesome amount of support and loyalty, you’ve made me feel like a “King”, so I think it’s only right that I repay you for all that you’ve done. I know that we’re great together…
(Pause for effect)
“BUT… I don’t feel that I can be happy with you anymore so I’ve decided to leave you for Dee Dee and Christy, you know, the two hot Strippers that live down the block. They promised me that all my fantasies will come true… So, um, that’s all… Good Luck with the rest of your life.”
