DETROIT (WXYZ) – While lawyers grilled his ex-Chief of Staff Wednesday – Kwame Kilpatrick was getting ready to answer questions in the same controversial case.
The former mayor will be deposed Thursday morning in the slain-stripper lawsuit.
Investigator Heather Catallo has learned that Kwame Kilpatrick will be transported from the federal prison in Milan to the federal courthouse in downtown Detroit tomorrow. That’s where he will be put under oath for a deposition.
The question now is… will he actually answer the questions?
Kwame Kilpatrick will get to change out his prison jumpsuit and into one of his fancy suits.
Greene was an exotic dancer who was shot to death in 2003. It’s been rumored that Greene danced for Kilpatrick during a never-proven wild party at the Manoogian Mansion.

Kilpatrick to testify in stripper lawsuit amid claims from alleged party witness
Paul Egan / The Detroit News
Detroit — Three days after an affidavit surfaced from an alleged Manoogian Mansion party eyewitness, former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will be brought to the federal courthouse in downtown Detroit from Milan prison to be questioned Thursday in a lawsuit over the unsolved murder of a slain exotic dancer.
Kilpatrick’s deposition comes five years after the family of dancer Tamara “Strawberry” Greene sued Kilpatrick and the city, alleging they obstructed the investigation into her April 30, 2003, fatal drive-by shooting.

Greene was linked to a rumored stripper party at the mayor’s official residence in the fall of 2002. As set out in court documents, a theory of the plaintiffs is that Kilpatrick’s wife, Carlita, assaulted Greene after showing up at the mansion and finding the stripper party under way. The Kilpatricks and city officials deny the allegations.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Michigan AG: Ex-Con’s Claims That I Was At Ex-Mayor’s Mansion Stripper Party …

In 2003, Cox investigated the reports of a party with strippers at the Mayor’s mansion, and concluded that the party “has all the earmarks of an ‘urban legend,’ and it should be treated as such.” But the family of Tamara “Strawberry” Greene, a stripper linked to the party rumors and shot to death on April 30, 2003, is suing the city, accusing it of obstructing her murder investigation for political reasons.

Kay, who could not be reached, said in the affidavit he was a member of an unidentified motorcycle club hired to provide security at a party at the mansion in 2002. He said guests included the former mayor, the former mayor’s father, Bernard N. Kilpatrick, and Cox. Kay said he saw Cox receiving a “lap dance” from a stripper and saw the former mayor’s wife, Carlita Kilpatrick, assault Greene at the party, punching her and striking her with a leg from a broken table. Kay, 35, has a criminal history that includes convictions for possession …

Attorney certain Carlita, Bernard Kilpatrick will be deposed in stripper suit: ‘Let them plead the Fifth’

Attorney Norman Yatooma says there is “no way” a federal judge will squash depositions scheduled for the wife and father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick in an ongoing civil suit filed by the family of slain stripper Tamara “Strawberry” Greene.
Yatooma is representing Greene’s family, which claims Kilpatrick and other city leaders conspired to stifle a probe into the dancer’s 2003 murder, which occurred months after she allegedly performed at a long-rumored party at the Manoogian Mansion.
Carlita and Bernard Kilpatrick, who now live in Texas, on Sunday filed motions asking Chief U.S. District Judge Gerald E. Rosen to set aside orders they give depositions to Yatooma, who believes Rosen will not grant the request.

Detroit Strip Clubs: MIke Cox answers allegations on Kwame Kilpartick’s party Manoogian Mansion charge

Attorney General Mike Cox, candidate in the 2010 Gubernatorial primary, is answering the allegations by Wilson Kay, Jr., that he attended Kwame Kilpatrick’s legendary 2002 stripper party at the Manoogian Mansion in Detroit.
Some call it legendary because it is has been the focus of so many reports and a police cover-up. Others call it legendary in the form of an urban legend.
It is alleged that a wild party at the mansion, the official residence of Detroit’s mayor, was a prelude to the murder of Tamara Greene. As Attorney General, Cox lead an investigation that determined there was no evidence the party ever took place.
Kay, a five-time convicted felon, claims that not only does Cox know there was a party – Cox was AT the party.
The allegations, one week prior to a hotly contested primary, were quickly heralded by those believing there was a party and denied as a political ploy by those that do not.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Cox denies new allegations about Manoogian mansion party

July 28, 2010 at 10:01 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

As AG, Cox concluded that the party, which allegedly resulted in the death of stripper Tamara Greene, was an urban legend that never actually took place. But attorneys for the Greene family have long maintained that Cox’s conclusions were a convenient whitewash to cover up the fact that he was at the mansion during the party.
Greene family attorney Norman Yatooma announced Monday that he had a signed affidavit from Wilson Kay Jr., a member of an unnamed motorcycle gang allegedly hired to handle security at the party. That affidavit reportedly says that Kay saw Carlita Kilpatrick, wife of imprisoned former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, assault Greene with a table leg after the dancer performed a lap dance on her husband.
The document also alleges that Cox was at the party and received a lap dance from another stripper. Cox vehemently denies those allegations:

Detroit Strip Clubs: Cox: Manoogian rumor implausible

The attorney general visited the Daily Press & Argus offices Tuesday to talk about his campaign for governor, the day after a Detroit-area television station reported that Detroit resident Wilson Kay Jr. said in a July 13 affidavit that Cox attended the Manoogian mansion party.
Channel 4 WDIV reported Kay’s affidavit stated Cox received a lap dance from an exotic dancer at the never-proven 2002 party held by then-Mayor and now-imprisoned Kwame Kilpatrick.
Cox denied being at the party and said he has never set foot inside the Manoogian mansion.
But Cox did investigate whether there had been a party, and eventually concluded that “the party has all the earmarks of an urban legend.”
Still, his campaign for governor has been dogged by criticisms that he conducted a hurried investigation of the party and its alleged connection to the murder of stripper Tamara Greene, who supposedly danced at the party.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Lawyer seeks to depose biker in slain dancer suit

July 28, 2010 at 10:01 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

Detroit — An attorney for the family of a slain exotic dancer says he may ask a federal judge to compel the deposition of a biker who says he worked security at a stripper party at the Manoogian Mansion in 2002.

In a sworn affidavit leaked to the news media Monday, Kay said he and members of his motorcycle club worked security at a Manoogian party where he saw former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s wife Carlita assault Greene. Kay also said Attorney General Mike Cox, who was then an assistant Wayne County prosecutor, was a guest at the party and received a lap dance from a stripper.

Greene, a stripper who was linked to a rumored Manoogian party in the fall of 2002, was shot to death in Detroit on April 30, 2003. Her family is suing the city and Kilpatrick, alleging they obstructed her murder investigation for political reasons.
