Detroit Strip Clubs: DOJ Says Former Police Monitor, Not Her Ex-Firms, Should Return $10 Million

The government’s motion against Wood comes on the heels of allegations that she had an affair with Kilpatrick while serving as police monitor, according to The Detroit News.
Earlier this month Norman Yatooma, a Birmingham, Mich.-based lawyer representing the family of slain stripper Tamara Greene, whose 2003 murder spawned an investigation of Kilpatrick, claimed in court documents that the former mayor “struck up a friendship with Wood and eventually engaged in an extra marital affair with her,” the Free Press reports.

DETROIT — Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick could be headed back to court Wednesday.
Local 4 has learned that Kilpatrick’s name is on a list of witnesses who could be called during a hearing involving the city of Detroit and the family of slain exotic dancer Tamara Greene.
Greene was shot to death on a Detroit street in April of 2003. Her killing has not been solved.
Greene, who worked as a stripper under the name of Strawberry, was alleged to have danced at a party at the Manoogian Mansion in 2002.
Stories have circulated that the wife of the then-mayor Kilpatrick had confronted Greene and assaulted her.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Feds: Ex-monitor should pay back fees
November 30, 2010 at 10:24 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsThe city of Detroit is suing for that amount to recoup fees after text messages revealed a relationship between the woman charged with enacting reforms in the department and Kilpatrick. In a filing Monday, the Justice Department and U.S. Attorney’s Office wrote that Robinson Wood should have to repay her fees, but her former employers didn’t know of the relationship and should not be sanctioned.
“Sanctioning Robinson Wood in the amount of the fees paid for her own work, although a steep price to pay, is appropriate in light of her role as an agent of the Court and the nature and extent of her deception,” according to a filing signed by Jeffrey R. Murray, a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice.
The court filing comes more than a week after a lawyer representing the family of slain stripper Tamara “Strawberry” Greene accused Robinson Wood of having an affair with Kilpatrick. In making the accusation, Birmingham lawyer Norman Yatooma cited a deposition the former mayor gave in the case.
