Detroit Escorts: Ethics professor discusses controversy on condoms
November 24, 2010 at 10:13 pm | In Detroit escorts | No CommentsSmith: We must note that the example that Pope Benedict gives for the use of a condom is a male prostitute; thus, it is reasonable to assume that he is referring to a male prostitute engaged in homosexual acts.
The Holy Father is simply observing that for some homosexual prostitutes the use of a condom may indicate an awakening of a moral sense; an awakening that sexual pleasure is not the highest value, but that we must take care that we harm no one with our choices.
He is not speaking to the morality of the use of a condom, but to something that may be true about the psychological state of those who use them. If such individuals are using condoms to avoid harming another, they may eventually realize that sexual acts between members of the same sex are inherently harmful since they are not in accord with human nature.
…
Q: So is the Holy Father saying it is morally good for male prostitutes to use condoms?

Detroit Strip Clubs: Boat was out on a lunch cruise – not at Manoogian, owner says
November 24, 2010 at 6:24 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsDetroit— If Tamara “Strawberry” Greene’s family lawyer thinks the Infinity charter boat ferried strippers and partiers to a Manoogian Mansion party in September 2002 under the cryptic name “Mason McBride,” he’s wrong, a man said today.
Scott McBride, secretary/treasurer of the Troy-based insurance and financial services firm Mason McBride Inc., told The Detroit News today his company rented the Infinity that fall. But not to slip undetected into a drug-and-stripper fueled bash at Kwame Kilpatrick’s crib.
“It had nothing to do with the city or Manoogian,” McBride said.
His firm rented the Infinity for a lunch cruise for employees and clients. While he couldn’t remember the exact date, he said it was around Labor Day 2002.
…
The Manoogian party included cocaine, marijuana, 50 strippers and a bare-knuckle brawl between former first lady Carlita Kilpatrick and Greene, according to a deposition given by a stripper who says she was hired for the party.

Detroit— The city has found some old e-mail messages belonging to ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and has preserved them, a city employee said in a court filing today.
Terrence Sims, a Detroit employee who oversees the city’s e-mail system, recently supervised a search for Kilpatrick’s e-mail, according to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit.
Lawyers representing the family of slain stripper Tamara “Strawberry” Greene want Kilpatrick’s e-mails from September 2002 through June 2003 to see if there is any proof that the ex-mayor and city obstructed an investigation into Greene’s death in 2003.
While Sims’ search failed to find archived e-mails from September 2002 through June 2003, a group of e-mails were uncovered and extracted, Sims wrote in the affidavit.

Detroit— A lawyer representing the family of Tamara “Strawberry” Greene wants the city to turn over records that could prove whether city boats were used to ship strippers and guests to a rumored Manoogian Mansion party.
…
The sanctions could include default judgment against the city for failing to turn over requested documents, including logs from 2002 that could prove whether a Detroit police boat unit ferried partygoers and strippers to the Manoogian Mansion, which backs up to the Detroit River, as several anonymous tipsters have told Greene family lawyers.

The new claims, filed late Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Detroit, are the latest salvos in the long-running case, which intensified Sunday when the deposition of stripper Tamika Ruffin was unsealed, revealing she says she attended the infamous Manoogian Mansion party and saw then-first lady Carlita Kilpatrick assault Greene.
Detroit Escorts: Michigan appeals court upholds Troy Brake murder convictions
November 24, 2010 at 1:12 pm | In Detroit escorts | No CommentsBrake was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility off parole for the 2008 Wright Township murders of Sharmaine Zimmer, her sons Tyler and Jeremy, and Jeremy’s girlfriend, Katherine Brown.
Attorneys for Brake argued the judge should not have allowed prosecutors to present evidence of Brake’s sexual assault and beating of a prostitute.
The Michigan Court of Appeals panel ruled the evidence of bad acts outside of the murders was consistent with the sexual assault and murder of Katherine Brown. The judges also ruled testimony of Brake’s jail-cell confession to a fellow inmate backed up Brake’s intent to rape and kill both the prostitute and Brown.
Earlier this year, the court of appeals upheld Brake’s conviction for the assault of the prostitute, who survived the attack and testified against him at trial.

The city also failed to turn over missing activity logs of Detroit Police Sgt. Shawn Gargalino, who reportedly was dispatched to the Manoogian following several 911 calls about a disturbance in fall 2002, according to a Greene family lawyer.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Kilpatrick: Computer Handed Over to Ken Cockrel, Junior
November 24, 2010 at 4:48 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments… I know when I became mayor there was not even a computer in the mayor’s personal office, and, in fact, the computer that I used during my time as mayor was actually an old computer that I borrowed from my council office,” he said.
Asher asked Cockrel, Junior whether he questioned that at the time. “Let’s just say it was something I was a little bit curious about,” he replied.
Many are curious about this computer that is the center of much legal controversy. The city attorney recently claimed Kilpatrick’s computer had been thrown out and replaced months before the former mayor resigned.
In that computer e-mails lost that attorney Norman Yatooma was banking on. He represents the family of slain stripper Tamara Greene and believed the information stored in that computer would help prove Kilpatrick and the city stifled her murder investigation.

WINDSOR, Ont. â The discovery of text messages dating back more than a year led to a mistrial in a second-degree murder case in Windsor on Monday.
The newly discovered evidence may have wide-ranging implications for Telus Communications, which has been asked to provide cellphone records in other court cases.
In Windsor, the mistrial was declared in the case of Kenyatta O’Neil Brown, 29, charged with the July 21, 2009, stabbing death of Nicholas Ingram, 24.
Within a week of the stabbing in the parking lot of Wyandotte Street West strip club Leopard’s Lounge, police obtained a court order compelling Telus to produce cellphone records — including text messages — sent or received by seven people believed to be important witnesses in the case.

LONDON – A group of gamblers in Detroit, Mich., has won $129 million U.S. after buying a lottery ticket in an adult entertainment shop.
Mike Greer, a member of the group, came forward to claim the winnings on behalf of the others, who wanted to remain anonymous.
Greer, a 49-year-old digital imaging employee, said he didn’t buy the ticket himself – but that “nobody cares” where it was bought.
Many customers of the adult bookstore, which is located in a poor area of Detroit’s Highland Park district, buy their lottery tickets without setting foot inside the adult shop.
Greer – who said only that the group has more than two members and fewer than 100 – indicated some of the riches will be going to a church.

Stripper’s credibility called into question
Kilpatrick’s attorney dismisses claims about Manoogian party
Robert Snell, Christine MacDonald and Doug Guthrie / The Detroit News
Detroit — Ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s defense attorney Monday attacked the credibility of a witness who said she attended the rumored Manoogian Mansion party, citing her inaccurate memory and questioning her mental well-being.
The criticism of former stripper Tamika Ruffin renewed questions about star witnesses named in a civil lawsuit filed by the family of slain exotic dancer Tamara “Strawberry” Greene. Greene’s family is suing the city and Kilpatrick, alleging they obstructed an investigation into her death.
Ruffin, 37, of Redford Township is the second witness in the case whose credibility has come under scrutiny.
Wilson Kay Jr., a convicted felon with a history of mental illness, said he worked security at the party and signed an affidavit that he saw the ex-mayor’s wife, Carlita Kilpatrick, assault Greene.
