Detroit Adult Entertainment: Pimpin’ ain’t easy: Sifting the ruins of the Miami Companions sex ring
February 20, 2011 at 8:37 am | In Detroit adult entertainment | No CommentsTo be sure, there’s some nobility in McQuade’s stance, mired as it is in some common — and often true — perceptions about pimps, street pimps in particular. They can be abusive and low down. So you want to go after men who beat on women, steal their money or force them to sell their bodies? You’ll get nothing but cheers from me.
…
So what about sex workers who enjoy the trade and want the opportunity to earn more money and meet more clients? What about the women who get into the game of their own volition, independent “working girls” who tolerate no pimps but who still see the value in growing their network? How many clients can a “sex ring” have before McQuade determines that it’s become too big to succeed?

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Kid Rock continues to be a genre-busting badass
February 20, 2011 at 8:37 am | In Detroit adult entertainment | No CommentsHe’s also hosted several music awards shows — like the last year’s Country Music Awards — and has also inducted Aerosmith, Bob Seger, and Lynyrd Skynyrd into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
His latest offering is another country-rock medley that tugs on the heart strings of the patriot inside of us. Born Free features appearances from Crow, Seger, Trace Adkins, and T.I. It finished the year as Billboard’s top-selling rock album.
A documentary entitled Kid Rock: Born Free started airing across MTV, Vh1, and CMT in November.
The tour, which bears the same name as the album, will see Kid share the stage once again with his long-time backing band, Twisted Brown Trucker, which has been with him since the recording of 1995’s Early Morning Stoned Pimp. Opening the shows will be Alabama native and country star Jamey Johnson, who is currently supporting his own 2010 effort The Guitar Song.

Detroit Massage Parlors: Royal Oak police chief gives two-week notice
February 18, 2011 at 2:12 pm | In Detroit massage parlors | No CommentsJohnson said he hasn’t decided if he will promote from within the police department or conduct a search to replace Jahnke, who got the top job after serving as assistant chief to former Chief Ted Quisenberry, who retired and took a job with Oakland County.
Jahnke worked four months for another police department before he was hired as an officer in Royal Oak, where he spent the rest of his career. As a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division, he worked with prosecutors to close illicit adult businesses, such as the Japanese Sauna, and then motels troubled by drugs and prostitution.
As a lead investigator, Jahnke had the honor of swinging a sledge hammer against the Japanese Sauna before the wrecking ball brought down the business. The Woodward Avenue business came under police scrutiny after residents complained about finding pornography, condoms and hypodermic needles on their lawns. Inside, police found more than a massage parlor; they seized two eight-foot crosses, manacles and a box full of whips. Continued…
Detroit Strip Clubs: Angry? They haven’t SEEN angry…yet
February 17, 2011 at 6:25 pm | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsTalk about national humiliation and embarrassment. Not to mention the Detroit City Council where one bombastic member, married to a U.S. Congressman no less, calls the council president Shrek at the top of her screech-o-meter. That played well for all of us on CNN. How proud we all could be of the governance in our major city.
When she went to jail for corruption and bribery, we all just sort of took it in stride-after all, it’s Detroit, we’ve seen it all.
The only benefit? Tell somebody in another state you’re from Detroit and they back up and step off, quick, because you’ve already got a reputation. You live in the city where gunmen waltz into a police station and start blasting away. You’re from the city where strippers are gunned down for knowing too much about the mayor. You live very close to a school district that paid 100 teachers, for years, who never taught a day and where computers purchased for students were sold on the street for pennies on the dollar.

Porter has previous convictions for drug possession and assault. Said the judge, looking at a report on Porter prepared by a probation worker in 2007, any counselling he has had in the past “didn’t take.” Porter was routinely suspended from high school for behavioural problems and was violent at home, punching holes in walls, the report said.
In addition to the break-in and shooting, Porter pleaded guilty to mischief for removing a knife from the scene of a fatal stabbing earlier that year. Porter pleaded guilty to taking the knife from the parking lot of Wyandotte Street strip club Leopard’s Lounge where Nicholas Ingram was stabbed in the heart on July 21, 2009.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Marney Rich Keenan
February 16, 2011 at 8:25 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No CommentsShantal got the idea from attending similar events. In New York, an entire restaurant was blacked out, and the wait staff wore night vision goggles. In Toronto, the participants wore blindfolds.
Shantal did some online research and decided to bring the concept to Detroit. “The response from the women has been: ‘Wow, what a cool idea,’” he says. “The response from men has typically been: ‘You mean we can’t see what she looks like?’” The maiden event, held at the Commune Lounge in Royal Oak, drew six guys and 10 girls. (Apparently, some no-show guys who had preregistered got cold feet.) Conversation ranged from the typical pre-date jitters: “Can you guys hear me OK because I’m blindfolded?”
To the raucous.
Girl: “What do you do?”
Guy: “I’m a manager of a grocery store. What do you do?”
Girl: “I’m a stripper. …” Pause. “Nah … I’m just kidding. I gotcha, though. I felt you leaning in.”
Pool theme.
