… This was sick revenge dragging my wife and kids into the matter,” Humphrey said during his testimony. “I don’t know of many cases where a subject has more clearly expressed his intent to do harm.”
Humphrey warned Judge Hill and Brewington’s public defender, Bryan Barrett, that they would likely become the defendant’s newest targets.
Dr. Edward Connor, a custody evaluator used in the divorce proceedings, was the original focus of Brewington’s writings. Brewington said Connor had withheld portions of the evaluation report he was entitled to.
“You have spent an enormous amount of time blaming everyone for your predicament but yourself,” Connor said.
Brewington had called Connor a child molester and prostitute in his “Internet rampage,” contacted the Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky where Conner is involved as a board member, and sending mass e-mails to Connor’s colleagues and legal professional around the area.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Boys Learn to Be Men in Detroit School Club

October 25, 2011 at 5:00 am | In Detroit strip clubs | No Comments

At a time when disrespect earns more regard than respect, a Detroit principal is bucking the trend by creating a club that teaches boys to be gentlemen, Rochelle Riley writes in her Detroit Free Press column. So far the effort is earning high marks from members and parents.
As principal of Brenda Scott Academy, Ronnie Sims supervises teachers, ensures resources and oversees students.
But he also teaches 80 boys how to be gentlemen.
Sims said he believes the young men need to excel at the other three R’s — the respect, responsibility and reasoning he teaches in an after-school program called the Gentlemen’s Club.
Twice a week, the boys gather in the gymnasium to learn how to properly shake hands, maintain eye contact and dress neatly. The older boys wear jackets; all the boys wear ties — and learn how to tie them.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Haiti Closes Orphanage for Child Neglect

October 23, 2011 at 6:49 pm | In Detroit adult entertainment | No Comments

Diem Pierre, general coordinator of the Institute of Welfare and Research, said the government closed the orphanage permanently because inspectors found children living in unsanitary conditions. He said the inspection was prompted by complaints from U.S. missionaries.
“We found kids with health problems,” Pierre told The Associated Press. “They looked as though they hadn’t eaten. They looked malnourished.”
Such enforcement actions are rare in Haiti. Officials complain that child welfare workers lack the resources and training to investigate the several hundred orphanages and group homes in a country in which many parents are forced to abandon their children because of poverty or as they seek work abroad.
Haiti has an estimated 50,000 children in orphanages, though many have at least one parent still alive. Tens of thousands of Haitian children are also forced to work as domestic servants or prostitutes, particularly over the border in the Dominican Republic.

Local man indicted after feds bust interstate prostitution ring

A cover charge of $20 at the door allowed guests inside to meet up 72 prostitutes — or “service providers” — for the purposes of later having sex. The prostitutes were expected to give “donations” to the organizers of between $100 and $1,000 for the events.

According to the complaint, a gold ticket was good for one free one-hour session with a call girl, while a black or green ticket could be used for a free 30-minute appointment.

Kilvington, as well as West Bloomfield residents Steven Thompson and Mark LeBlanc, now face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of interstate travel for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. LeBlanc, 55, is a lawyer, Kilvington, 47, a salesman, and Thompson, 50, a certified public accountant. Continued…

WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) – The FBI has arrested three suburban Detroit men for allegedly using bowling alleys in Oakland and Macomb counties to solicit prostitution.
According to federal prosecutors, the men set up events at the alleys where customers would pay to meet prostitutes who would then take them to nearby hotels for sex.
FOX 2’s Alexis Wiley reports one of the incidents happened on May 5 at Royal Lanes in Warren. Owner Harry Soper says a woman called to rent the alley’s party room. But when the guests arrived, Soper says something didn’t seem right. “(The guests) were dressed a little unusual,” said Soper. “They were dressed a little slinky.”

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Steyn, After America: Motown meltdown, Part 2

A while back, I heard the English writer Anthony Daniels read aloud some correspondence from Jack the Ripper’s first victim, a 43-year-old domestic servant called Mary Anne Nichols. In 1888, the year of her murder, she wrote to her father:
I just write to say you will be glad to know that I am settled in my new place, and going on all right up to now…It is a grand place inside, with trees and garden back and front. All has been newly done up. They are teetotalers, and religious, so I ought to get on…
Mary Anne Nichols was born in 1845 – a quarter-century before the Education Act brought universal elementary schooling to all children in England and Wales. The correspondence of an uneducated domestic servant in and out of workhouses and prostitution is nevertheless written with better expression, better spelling, better punctuation and, indeed, more human feeling than the president of the School Board in a major American city.

Detroit Adult Entertainment: Investment adviser guilty of Ponzi scheme must serve 8 years in prison, pay …

A Farmington Hills investment adviser must serve eight years and one month in federal prison and pay $4.1 million in restitution to victims in connection with a three-year Ponzi scheme, under a sentence handed down Monday.
Keith Epstein, 56, received that sentence from Judge Nancy Edmunds of U.S. District Court in Detroit. It was unclear late Monday whether he received credit for time served in a 12-month jail sentence last January under a related prosecution in Macomb County Circuit Court.
Federal officials identified more than 15 clients — many of whom were elderly — that Epstein directed to liquidate legitimate investments and write checks to him or his company, E&R, so he could place their funds in new, “less risky” investments between late 2006 and 2009, according to court records.
Epstein then diverted their funds to personal uses including gambling and adult entertainment, supporting multiple exotic dancers and making payments to other investors to continue the scheme, federal officials said.

Investment Adviser Sentenced To Prison For Ponzi Scheme
Keith Epstein Accused Of Running $4-Million Scheme
POSTED: Monday, October 17, 2011
DETROIT — A 56-year-old investment adviser in Michigan has been sentenced to 97 months in prison for running a $4-million Ponzi scheme, federal officials said Monday.
Farmington Hills residents Keith Epstein pleaded guilty to bank fraud charges in April.
U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said Epstein devised a scheme where he directed clients –many of whom were elderly — to liquidate legitimate investments in order to purportedly place them in new, less risky instruments, with him. Epstein then diverted these funds for his own use, where he spent it gambling and at adult entertainment clubs, financially supporting multiple exotic dancers, and making interest payments to other investors to continue the scheme.

Detroit’s ‘Booty Lounge’ stripper party bus blocked from tailgating area before Lions-Bears game
A giant mobile strip club that’s been providing Detroit Lions fans with pre-game adult entertainment was bounced from a tailgating area before Monday night’s game against the Bears.
“I guess we just got kicked out,” Booty Lounge bus operator Joe Parsons told The Detroit News after cops blocked his pervy party bus from parking in its usual spot near Ford Field Monday afternoon.
Outfitted with stages, stripper poles, disco lights and tinted windows, Parsons’ rolling jiggle joint has been setting up shop in Detroit’s Eastern Market district since 2005.
Randy fans paid $10 to hop aboard and watch a strip show featuring a harem of half-naked beauties. An undercover report by Detroit news station WDIV two weeks ago showed off-duty strippers prowling a parking lot full of kids, sparking outrage among local officials.Police on the scene on Monday told Parsons that he didn’t have a permit to sell his discount skin shows – and warned against co …

Detroit— The Booty Lounge bus heeded police orders to pull out of town before the Monday Night Football game. They’re not sure they’ll be back.
“I guess we just got kicked out,” said bus operator Joe Parsons.
Detroit police prevented the Facebook-advertised 2 p.m. pregame adult entertainment party on the black-and-red bus parked outside Bert’s Warehouse Theater in Eastern Market.
Cops arrived at 1:55 p.m. with orders for the owners to ban dancing by semi-dressed women on board, even though the vehicle was parked on private property. Police said the activity had no permit.
And, because Bert’s has a liquor license, police threatened to perform a liquor inspection on the bar and the bus.
