A manager of a strip club on Detroit’s east side was shot and killed during a dispute early Monday morning, according to reports.
Fox 2 reports that the shooting occurred at Starvin’ Marvin’s on Conant Street. The manager was trying to break up a fight when one of the brawlers fired shots.
Billy Wilson, president of the Motown Alumni Association, reports on Facebook that the manager, LaMark Billingslea, was the son of Joe Billingslea, one of the founders of Motown soul group the Contours. The Contours are best known for their 1960s hit “Do You Love Me.”
Wilson: It was reported that friends of Billingslea didn’t want to wait for the ambulance, and proceeded to transport him to the hospital themselves. In the process of transferring the wounded victim they got into an auto accident themselves; the Detroit police proceeded to transport the incapacitated Billingslea once they got to the scene of the auto accident. He died while at the hospital.
