Detroit Massage Parlors: Dream bar crawl
October 19, 2011 at 3:12 am | In Detroit massage parlors | No CommentsLJ’s Lounge 2114 Michigan Ave., Detroit, 313-962-0013: Though it’s a quiet old-man bar on most days, the spill-over crowd from Slows Bar-BQ and the pre-party crowd from nearby dance shindigs makes it a memorable stop for bar-crawlers in the know. The brews are cheap, but be sure to get the price of that shot before you order it.
The Loving Touch 22634 Woodward Ave., Ferndale; 248-546-3644: Opened in late-’08, Ferndale’s new pool hall-lounge was once a massage parlor of the same name. Neat! Whatever the former’s business practices, the new version is one of the best bars for last call in metro Detroit. The Loving Touch is cozy with beautiful woodwork, welcoming atrium and it sports a badass juke, with many local rock stars in rotation. It’s lounge-casual, to be sure. What better way to cap a night than with sloppy billiards or in a booth with your pals, glowing from locally brewed beer? The LT has free pool on Sundays and Monday movie nights with Nintendo tournaments.
Detroit Massage Parlors: Prostitution itself isn’t illegal
July 11, 2011 at 7:48 am | In Detroit massage parlors | No CommentsAs an analogy, imagine that slowing down or stopping at intersections was inexplicably a crime while driving and earning your living as a truck or taxi driver was legal.
Strangely ignored by almost all media is the very important and obvious fact that these laws have not been sincerely enforced for many years.
Is anyone really gullible enough to believe the “body rub parlours” and “escort agencies” licensed in Windsor and other cities are not in the sex business? When Australia had similar circumstances, vice cops were found to be routinely accepting bribes to continue turning a blind eye.
Most of Australia and New Zealand subsequently allowed their massage parlours to legally operate as brothels, rather than keep the blatantly dishonest and possibly corrupt situation that the Ontario and federal governments are fighting in court to preserve.

Detroit Massage Parlors: Former Thai sex tycoon vies to become lawmaker
June 28, 2011 at 12:24 pm | In Detroit massage parlors | No CommentsAnd in his quest to win a parliament seat in elections Sunday, the 49-year-old one-time massage parlor king is betting a public tired of divisive, hypocritical leaders will agree.
…
Prostitution is illegal in Thailand but rarely prosecuted. Chuvit’s massage parlors were thinly disguised brothels, and he doesn’t see anything wrong with them – except the payoffs police demanded ($300,000 a month, he claims, not to mention the Rolex watches and free services thrown in on top).
…
After returning home, he made a fortune during a late 1980s real estate boom. When a client took him to an upscale massage parlor, he had an epiphany. “I said ‘Oh wow, it’s good!’ It’s like a Hugh Hefner: You know, surrounded by the beautiful girls, making money.”
…
He sold his slice of the sex business years ago, and says he’s done with it for good. But when people ask about his former life, “I say yes … I should go back to the massage parlors,” he sighed. “Because that was better – cleaner than politics.”

Detroit Massage Parlors: Dangerous And Under The Radar
June 14, 2011 at 5:49 pm | In Detroit massage parlors | No CommentsShaver says the 2010 Ontario ruling brought to light issues most people never consider. “The public needs to be educated on this industry. Canadians generally don’t know much about sex workers and that’s created unwarranted fears,” she says. “What little is known comes from media reports on crises, such as underage girls forced into sex rings. The reality is only a small number are in crisis.”
The vast majority of sex workers are consenting adults who enter the field in order to pay their bills. “Most get into the business because they know someone who knows someone,” says Shaver. “It’s rare that boyfriends force girlfriends into sex work.”
Most sex work conducted off streets
By most estimates, only 10 to 20 per cent of sex workers solicit clients off the street. The majority — 80 to 90 per cent — work from home, brothels and private establishments such as escort agencies, strip clubs or massage parlors.

Detroit Massage Parlors: “Dirty” director Chris Fisher’s nihilistic police corruption melodrama
May 15, 2011 at 7:00 am | In Detroit massage parlors | No CommentsEventually, Sullivan and Marty come to tolerate each other. Later, Sullivan questions Fowler and Rogen, but gets nothing out of them. At a secret rendezvous, Fowler rants at Marty about Sullivan. Marty approaches Sullivan about Fowler. It seems that Sullivan had discovered Fowler’s connection with Quintana from Quintana’s own landlady at the Lap of Luxury Apartments. Fowler and Quintana were friendly enough for Fowler to bounce a check for his rent. Anyhow, Marty learns to his surprise that Internal Affairs is poised to question them. Suddenly, Fowler dies outside a massage parlor after shooting it out with a hooded character inside. Later, Rogen breaks his neck at a wharf while fighting an assailant. Sullivan tells Marty. “Got three dead cops. All killed before they talked to I.A. Something bigger going on here.”
Detroit Massage Parlors: Craig Ferguson puts on a hilarious show at Caesars Windsor
April 25, 2011 at 5:36 am | In Detroit massage parlors | No CommentsFerguson’s entrance was very dramatic. It began with music playing and then a green toy chest was pushed onto the stage. Puppets Wavy Rancheros (an alligator/crocodile) and Sid (a white rabbit) appeared from the toy chest and started singing a song. I originally thought that Craig Ferguson was also going to pop out of the toy chest, but he didn’t.
After the song ended, Craig Ferguson walked onto stage and told his first joke, “It’s a Great Day for Canada, Everybody!”
He thanked everyone coming and said: “Wow, it’s fantastic. You can’t say not this f***ing dump again. I have a baby in the house. This entire thing is a construct so I can get one night in a hotel room.”
Ferguson started out with some Drew Carey jokes and noted that The Price is Right host has lost a lot of weight. “Fat is where comedy is stored, joke containers,” Ferguson joked.
The comedian also discussed his new baby, experimenting with drugs, massage parlors, Coco Chanel, shark week and how he hates to read the tabloids. Several times during the show, he used his catchphrase “CBS Cares.”
