The three or four unidentified attackers snatched cash, watch and his vehicle from him. They fled with his gray Louis VuittonLouis Vuitton wallet, which had $200 in it, plus his Rolex gold-and-diamond-encrusted watch worth $15000 and the deep-burgundy 2012 Infiniti QX56 SUV he was driving, according to details given by Detroit police.
According to the Huffington Post report, Winans was quite disturbed due to the tragic incident and he commented, “I’m just saddened that it has come to this. This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the street.”
Winans is pastor of the 4,500-member Perfecting Church on Detroit’s east side. In February, he gave singer Whitney HoustonWhitney Houston a tribute on her funeral. He has also played an integral role in working against the proliferation of strip clubs in Detroit’s neighborhoods.

Police say the four suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash and the SUV; they describe three of the men as black males. The attack happened about 3:20 PM.
“I’m just saddened that it has come to this,” Winans said. “This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the street.” He added that he did not believe the young men involved recognized him as the pastor of the 4,500-member Perfecting Church on Detroit’s east side. “And if they did, it didn’t make much difference,” he added. Winans suffered minor scrapes, bumps and ripped pants in the incident but reportedly refused EMS transport to a hospital. Instead, the 54-year-old gospel recording artist had a friend drive him to get medical attention, police said.
Of the attack and carjacking, Winans said:
“I’m just saddened that it has come to this. This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the street.”
Although the pastor believes the men who assaulted him did not recognize him, he feels it would not have mattered if they did.

Detroit Strip Clubs: Stabbing victim’s memory clouded, Windsor court hears

WINDSOR, Ont. — A Chatham man who was stabbed seven times during a melee at a Windsor strip club testified Wednesday he has little recollection how the fight began.
Joseph Robert told Superior Court he was with friends at Leopardâs strip club on April 28, 2010, when he got into a fight with 30-year-old Darryl Byrd, who is charged with attempted murder.
Robert, 28, said his memory is sketchy because the fight happened two years ago and he was intoxicated. He refused two offers from assistant Crown attorney Elizabeth Brown to refresh his memory by viewing the statement he gave police.
From testimony heard so far by Justice Renee Pomerance, Robert and three friends drove to Windsor from Chatham to have some fun. Robert and a cousin were violating bail conditions imposed after the two were charged with aggravated assault in connection with a bar fight in Chatham in December 2009. The two were required to refrain from drinking and had a 10 p.m. curfew.

Popular pastor and gospel singer Marvin Winans has been assaulted and carjacked at a Detroit gas station.
Winans tells WXYZ-TV that he was pumping gas when four or five young men jumped him on Wednesday afternoon.
His sport utility vehicle was taken. Winans says he wasn’t seriously injured and says, “This kind of nonsense just has to stop.”
Winans is pastor of the 4,500-member Perfecting Church on Detroit’s east side. He gave singer Whitney Houston’s eulogy in February.
He has been active in civic issues, including the stand against the proliferation of strip clubs in Detroit.

The model and private detective who was once dubbed America’s hottest politician filed this week to run for state representative in the 24th District against Philip Kurczewski of Clinton Township in the August Democratic primary. The winner will face Rep. Anthony Forlini , R-Harrison Township.
Torrice’s tenure as a commissioner from Clinton Township was seemingly mired in one controversy after another — from the time she posed on “Inside Edition” in a yellow bikini holding a campaign sign to her financial troubles and a court conviction for “willfully and negligently” setting fire to her Chesterfield home (she later claimed the insurance company was trying to “extort” her “because I’m a commissioner”).
Torrice once had to fight off suggestions she was a stripper while publicly acknowledging she has a stripper pole in her bedroom “for exercise only.”
