Detroit Adult Entertainment: Pastors heed call of those who dislike church

Ekklesia — the ancient Greek word for church — formed in early 2008 and began meeting at Livonia Mall. Within a few months, the congregation moved to a former church in Westland. Since October 2009, Sunday services have been held at Westland John Glenn High School.
With over 200 members — about 130 attending services on an average Sunday — Ekklesia is an interdenominational church that is part of the Vision 360 Network.
“We have four pastors who work as team — each one has an area of specialization. Jesus is a our senior pastor,” said Lambert, who does most of the preaching at Ekklesia services. “A lot of our members are people who had walked away from church — they didn’t like God. We’re good at outreach and committed to create a culture of love. Those who hung around with Jesus were outcasts and prostitutes.”
