GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) – Monday afternoon will mark another chapter in a story that has been unraveling since September 2008. Convicted killer Troy Brake will be sentenced for the murder of Sharm Zimmer, her sons Tyler and Jeremy and Jeremy’s girlfriend Katherine Brown.
This story starts on September 29th, 2008 when rescue crews responded to a house fire in Ottawa County’s Wright Township. When crews went into the house, they found the bodies of Sharm Zimmer, her sons Tyler and Jeremy and Jeremy’s girlfriend Katherine Brown. They had been murdered in their Wright Township home; the house set on fire to cover up the crime.
Days after Ottawa County investigators put out a memo to area law enforcement agencies that they were looking for a gun – a glock 40 in connection with the murders. Grand Rapids police found a gun in Troy Brake’s truck during an arrest where he was brutally beating up a prostitute.
