All proceeds will benefit Burn’s and Steinhour’s Oct. 7-26 trip to Natal, Canoas, and Moreira, Brazil, where they will work with other missionaries through the Brazil Mission Society to provide food, clothing, medical care and supplies, educational materials and more.
According to the Brazil Mission Society’s website, an estimated 53 million Brazilians live on less than $1 a day. Many Brazilians lack education, are unemployed and have little or no access to healthcare. Many live in overcrowded slums. In Brazil, there are 12 million homeless children – called abandonados, or the deserted ones – living on the streets. Many are targets for drugs, prostitution or exploitative labor markets. HIV/AIDS and lack of education are other risks for Brazilian kids.
