Detroit Escorts: Two Women Sentenced In Death Of Retired Brighton Podiatrist

12/16/09 – Two women charged in the beating death of a former Brighton podiatrist have been sentenced. 32-year-old Teanna Keens was ordered to serve 10 to 15 years behind bars while 19-year-old Stephanie Cross will serve 7 to 15 years in prison. Both earlier pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder for their part in the death of Dr. Gary Ceresnie, along with 24-year-old Darrell Harris and 24-year-old Kamico Jackson. The 54 year old Ceresnie, who retired from his Brighton practice last year, died August 9th in a southwest Detroit neighborhood. Police say Ceresnie picked up Keens and Cross in a known area of prostitution and drove them to a house on St. John Street. Once inside, Harris and Jackson beat and robbed Ceresnie and then fled. Ceresnie made his way to a restaurant, where he died a short time later. An autopsy determined the cause of death was a heart attack brought on by the beating. Both men agreed to plead to the lesser charge in exchange for open murder and armed robbery counts being dismissed. Harris will be sentenced today and Jackson on December 21st. (JM)
