Detroit Massage Parlors: Mall rejects massage business

Straniti added that she will move forward, in her capacity as chairwoman of the council’s Ordinance Committee, to strengthen city regulations regarding massage parlors.

In the past, massage parlors have served as fronts for prostitution operations, and a number of such businesses have been raided and shut down in Norwalk.

“With the track record that some massage parlors have had in the city, ones the police had to raid for illegal activities and arrests and prostitution, the neighbors were concerned that this could possibly turn into a situation like that,” Straniti said.

“There are some legitimate therapy organizations and masseuses, and we don’t want to stop them from coming in,” Moccia said. “But we also want to take a close look at any of these massage parlors. When you get a business like this, you really have to be very careful.”
