Sources tell Fox 2 Pugh it is against city policy to not immediately report a crash involving a city-owned vehicle, and others have suggested he may have violated state law regarding damage to road signs. Detroit police are investigating the crash.
But Pugh, who typically has a driver, said he did not think he was doing anything wrong by driving home.
“So… if we violated a policy it was unbeknownst to me,” he told Fox 2. “I don’t drink and drive. I had not been drinking, and I went home because… I was not going to sit on Mack and 75 at… a quarter to ten at night and wait on the police.”
It’s been a tough week for Pugh, who also has faced repeated criticism from Rev. Marvin Winans over a reworked strip club proposal.
