Detroit Strip Clubs: Council votes to let strippers do their thing in Lincoln Park

The Lincoln Park City Council on Tuesday night voted 6-0 to transfer a liquor license to the controversial Larry Flynt Hustler Club.
City Councilman Thomas McPartlin was absent.
The vote came after a contentious hearing Tuesday morning in federal court, where U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds said she would fine the city $12,000 a day and hold council members in contempt if the license was not approved.
City Attorney Edward Zelenak said both sides resolved the matter just before noon Tuesday. The $4.2-million strip club is at John A. Papalas and Outer drives.
“I would suspect they are near opening it,” Zelenak said.
Some council members held up the transfer last week.
Club attorneys have said that the city has illegally held up the building’s opening in violation of a consent judgment approved by Edmunds last year.
