Detroit Strip Clubs: Cox: Manoogian rumor implausible

The attorney general visited the Daily Press & Argus offices Tuesday to talk about his campaign for governor, the day after a Detroit-area television station reported that Detroit resident Wilson Kay Jr. said in a July 13 affidavit that Cox attended the Manoogian mansion party.
Channel 4 WDIV reported Kay’s affidavit stated Cox received a lap dance from an exotic dancer at the never-proven 2002 party held by then-Mayor and now-imprisoned Kwame Kilpatrick.
Cox denied being at the party and said he has never set foot inside the Manoogian mansion.
But Cox did investigate whether there had been a party, and eventually concluded that “the party has all the earmarks of an urban legend.”
Still, his campaign for governor has been dogged by criticisms that he conducted a hurried investigation of the party and its alleged connection to the murder of stripper Tamara Greene, who supposedly danced at the party.
