Detroit Strip Clubs: Hundreds mob City Hall to talk strip clubs

Detroit — Churchgoers and strippers alike have jammed into City Hall this afternoon to say their piece about proposed regulations for Detroit’s strip clubs.

But Kweli Buffalo, a dancer at All Stars, also drew applause when she said she recognized many in the anti-strip club crowd as patrons.
“Some of the people in here I have seen in the strip clubs,” said Buffalo, who added the regulations will cost workers jobs.

Dennis Mazurek, with the city’s law department, said that in 1982, the city had 95 adult cabarets. Today, the city has 31 active topless bars, a spokesperson with the Michigan Liquor Control Commission said Monday.
