Small talk with Ronald Griffin: Detroit minister wants to crack down on strip clubs

Earlier this year, Griffin joined a group of religious and neighborhood groups urging a crackdown on the proliferation of strip clubs in the city, saying these businesses increase crime and drag down property values.
What are your main concerns about the strip clubs?
Legal experts refer to these as sexually oriented clubs. They dealt with the secondary effects: all kinds of crimes created by these clubs. Most are surrounded by residential communities. I don’t think any of these strip club owners would move their families next door to these establishments. … When you talk about drugs and alcohol … many of these patrons have their guard down, and the bad guys use them. It creates a bad situation. When you add that to drugs and all of that on the streets, no one wants to live in an environment like that.
